Title: Warning about Phishing Private Messages
Post by: ripple on November 22, 2013, 12:43:45 AM
I logged in to this forum and received private message from member, supernatural (Sr member),on 21st November 23:22:20.

It quotes an article purportedly on Bitcoin Forum, but is actually hosted on a look-alike site shown at end of message.

The website has a nearly identical website name to this forum 'bitcointalk.org' but with the letters l and k reversed.

I believe this is designed to steal your Bitcoin Forum log-on details.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL and check before you give out your password on any forum links!

Be careful where you mine and exchange bitcoins for money. Most mining pools are a scam, bitcoin exchanges too(they will hold your money for months), look in the scammers section and see for yourself bticointakl.org/index.php?board=83.0

I posted here in Bitcoin Discussion so more people would read the warning.

Its important as the scam is designed to disrupt this forum by stealing forum identities.

Few will see it at Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Trading Discussion > Scam Accusations

This has nothing to do with bitcoin. The same trick has been used 10000 times to get your (or others) bank credentials too.

Granted it has little to do with bitcoins, but it has a lot to do with this forum and needs exposure as it is a Bitcoin Forum Phishing look-alike.  Maybe the Mods of this forum can figure how to best warn people.

If this warning saves only one persons log-in identity on Bitcoin Forum it will have been worth it.
