Title: Why are account and merit sale topics allowed on the forum?
Post by: Commie on April 28, 2018, 08:48:10 AM
Noticed these today, looks like it's quite widespread. Not in English but Google translate gives a good idea what's that all about.

Because:

18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.

They'll get tagged by some DT members eventually.

Never seen a rule allowing merit sales. Did I miss anything? Got the situation with account sales though, allowed but frowned upon.

Then read the thread about merit, pretty simple fella. If you have a question use the search feature before posting it

From theymos:

The current status quo seems OK. If you have to pay $20 per merit plus a risk of getting red trust, then that's a situation that doesn't concern me at all. I'm not going to lose sleep over people going to ridiculous lengths to buy merit, since only a small number of people will be willing and able to do that.

As long as merit sales are a black market, I'm happy, since that makes it far more difficult and expensive to buy merit. If that's the case, then the small volume of black-market merit trades don't themselves bother me much, and I think that it does more harm than good to get too witch-hunty about it.

I agree with him because it takes time to hunt them and tag them accordingly, as I said above, they'll get tagged by some DTs eventually.

Merit sales and exchanges have turned out to be a great tool for detecting account sales, and those members who should not be trusted. If you are prepared to prostitute yourself by selling your merits, there is a good chance that you will attempt to disadvantage a member in some trade or business deal.

I can't remember but I guess I have seen similar thread few days ago with similar formatting. Really not sure.

EDIT: Did any one notice the same or it's only me?

I seem to look at so many threads that they seem to be a bit of a blur at times. I've suggested that mods could do a bit of thread merging and deletion of repeated replies, but there are so many that I guess it would cause a mod overload.

It's also happening on various boards. Check my local board, we locked so many similar threads and trashed more of them. The merit system does work, but it doesn't really prevent farmer to rank their accounts up to Jr. so they can join Social Media campaign and shit.

Then perhaps Theymos should make a global rule, bans for anyone engaging members below the rank of member in any sig/bounty/advertising both on and off forum? Let the pricks take it all to telegram/discord/spazbook

To make it easier to tag them. if you want to get merits, start with talking shit to the shit posters and report them in a thread. whatever other members are getting merits for, do the same to get merits.

For instance: find a poor third world shit poster and tell him/her to write "I want to have oral sex" on their chest and receive more than 50 merits. make sure to send some items to some of the DT members before doing that. nobody would question you.

Sucking for the right people is the key to be somebody here.
