CAT Trial is now over - 01/12/2013

Due to the sudden influx of users and requests, Cryptsy is having some serious lag. This has a affected my test so I will do a new test once Cryptsy gets its servers installed.

What I am doing now is selling all my Coins left over to give a final report.



(OLD MARKETS: new markets down below)
The markets that i have picked are the current top 17 with the highest buy volume:
MEC, LTC, DGC, FST, BQC, WDC, QRK, TAG, ANC, KGC, FTC, XPM, ALF, EMD, SRC, GLD, CGB

I will be using an aggressive algo to start with, using a min % gain of 1%.

At the end of the 24hr Period I will take the time to break each stat down.

UPDATE:

Trial is now back on, have reduced the markets down to 12 but have put more XBT into the trades, the new markets are:
ANC, LTC, WDC, GLD, PPC, NMC, MEC, QRK, XPM, SBC, TAG, PTS

Report Format has slightly changed, for the days to continue we will be using a rough guess for XBT balance.

Since I wont be selling coins I will be letting CAT run, the new gain will come from our starting balance according to Cryptsy minus the new Balance according to Cryptsy at the time I check.

It seams all the markets now are either slowing down or CAT has hit a spot that it cant PING from from, will be selling all ALT coins and starting CAT once again.

As you can see the last trade was executed at 21:48 which is about 5hrs of no trading from my current time 03:40.

Seams we had a loss, probably due the the ALT coin markets jumping around allot and CAT not being able to PING back.

Gain log:

A couple of things I think are important:

-Which markets you use and how you chose them
-ping/pong mode you use
-algorithms you use (or maybe just the min % gain if you're doing aggressive)
-individual gain for each market (this is just an interesting stat, I think, because it will vary a lot)

I'd also like to see these because I choose my markets every day based on buy volume and run aggressive on 1.25% so I'm curious as to how other people set theirs up.

Good few points i will add them in.

I was going to use normal mode rather than aggressive but i can place a few on aggressive to get diff results.M y usual min gain is 1% - 2%.

How many markets should I run? Top 10 or 25 buy volume?

What will you do with left-over orders (that haven't PONGed) each day - cancel them or ...?

I'm really glad you're doing this, I probably need a little help with my CAT.

The secret to a good CAT algorithm, don't tell. But I did push out a lovely 10% day yesterday.

Im not sure about the left over coins im still deciding to either keep them for the next run or sell them and start with just XBT.

Have you got a CAT Copy? I've never sell one to you   ;)

I'm assuming your goal is to have it trading with a full amount each day, but not sure it's feasible if 'Coin A' declines overnight and you have a bunch bought at a high price, for example.

Which brings me to - if you cancel the Buy/Sell algorithm and the PONG trade, you don't lose anything, it just means you acquired coin at that price(?) Now you can use it again to trade if you take a small loss and start doing Sell/Buy on a downswing(?) I've been leaving my orders up to complete, but then I have less to trade with. So I end up "feeding" CAT a little coin each day to keep it going, but trading with less.

When buying a coin at high price this is true, however there is a parameter in CAT to sell all if price goes below x.xxx amount, this may incur a small loss.

This is correct.

What i have found so far is the best way to run CAT is 24/7, constantly stopping and restarting the program means it then has to redo all the orders and you wont know what you price you paid unless you check transaction history and that can take some time.

I still don't know if it should run 7 days straight or in 24hr periods.

My advice is to run it 24/7 if you can. Also I feel you when CAT stops -due to powerloss, etc-, I've been many times through this having to check every coin's log for last traded price and restart CAT from where it was before the stop, but perhaps Sampey can add later a feature for this .

Trial has begun, OP updated.

CAT has now frozen 17hrs into trading, have notified Sampey so hopefully we can get back into the test soon.

First 17hrs of data is up haven't broken it all down yet. 

CAT is now working once again. Let the test proceed.

It's a shame that actually Cryptsy is too much slow and the result are compromised by this factor.
I hope you will re-do a 7d/24h run test when the site will be ok.  ;)

Cheers Sampey, and ya i will do it again when Cryptsy gets up and running better. I do agree that this lag on Cryptsy really effects the results. Just went to check balances in CAT to see the gain and well... she froze again trying to get that data.

I may end the test after 6 days and wait for Cryptsy to get those servers up.

CAT has frozen, I will be ending the test after 6 days I will get all the data and compile a final report.

Looking forward to it. Quick question. What do you personally prefer do with the unfilled buy orders on the way up? Or the unfilled sell orders on the way down?

I personally just use the left over coins to do Sell orders, you may take a loss as you might not have sold them for what you brought them but at least you get some work out of them.

For the trial i just sold them all and did only Buy orders.

Here's the results of 48 hours trading with 1.8 total BTC value, gain of 0.75 BTC.  :o
