Title: ANN: Belgian eFrank (BFR)
Post by: FrankDingenen on April 29, 2018, 03:02:53 PM
We have been working on BeFrank (BFR), a Cryptonight variant. It is intended for Belgians and sympathizers.

So far we have  remained under the radar and put our own time and money into development of the coin. Politicians, authority figures and regular citizens are very receptive to the concept.

Our website is online, which is all still premature, but can be visited on getfrank.be.
The core concepts have been drafted in a manifesto.

The total money supply is 100 billion BFR with 2 decimals. 10% has been reserved for founders and philanthropy, another 10% has been reserved as fund for the state to use for welfare and a future for the millennial generation, as well as market making and some price stability.

Linux, Mac OS X and Windows version in alpha stage both CLI and GUI.

100 billion??     ;D  with that supli is dead

Only 2 decimals. Thus 10 000 000 000 000 units
100 000 000 satoshi = 1 BTC
21 000 000 BTC
=> 2 100 000 000 000 000 units

It should be, but more pools are welcome for resilience

100 billion is way too much. There will be no suitable market to match this apart from maybe a doge market.

From the manifesto:

We will reserve 10% of all funds to provide for social welfare and market making, especially for the millennial generation.
All under democratic governance.
10% allocated as founders compensation for investing our time, own money and reputation, which we already use for philanthropy.
https://opencollective.com/befrank => 4K EUR Initial founder's investment, more will come.

It is always a magic number. Since there are only 2 decimals, it's actually less units than Bitcoin. The idea is to achieve some parity with the Belgian Frank which had denominations up to 10000 BEF, if I remember correctly.

Be sure to work a lot if you end up at the end of developing this project. Good luck to your team!

As I understand, you're not raising money thru ICO. Is that right? But, how are you going to continue the development? I hope this will not be a pump and dump because of the billions of supply. Also, do you have at least initial communication with belgian government institutions about this?

We are not raising any capital, instead we use our own funds and of course won't refuse any support from others. This has been a kind of hobby project that got out of hand is receiving more help from all over the world. Thus it is has become more professional.

There are only 2 digits after the comma, so even though it sounds like billions is a lot, the number of atomic units is actually lower than most.  It is an intentional choice to target a stable price where 50 BFR has the purchasing power of 1 beer. We are committed to prevent pump and dumps via many ways. Some will require our own funds, another is to prevent too early exchange listings, and finally to mainly distribute the coin in physical form via a physical airdrop. We will try to keep it stable at 50 BFR ~= 1 EUR, but time will tell.

Finally, we are meeting with several departments of the government and have good contacts. Cooperation is preferrable, but the genie is out of the bottle anyway. The people and the markets will decide.

Development had slowed down due to a series of unfortunate personal issues. But we are back on track, with more support than ever before.

Oh my god. 20% premine. Yes, I have read your justification for it. Anyway, something like that did not work in 2013/14 and it will not work now. Another shitcoin sentenced to death. :P

Belgian Franks ?
When will we de-valuate ?
After the 1982 devaluation it became one of Europe strongest currencies, linked to the German mark in 1990.
