Title: Aftermarket coolers for 7950 cards
Post by: B.T.Coin on November 23, 2013, 10:22:45 PM
On some of my 7950 cards, the fans start wearing out due to dust and 24/7 operation.
I want to replace them and I'm looking for an aftermarket cooler.

I know the Arctic Accelero Extreme is good but it's out of stock on all webshops I look at in Europe.
Does anybody know of another aftermarket air cooler for the 7950 that is still for sale?

EDIT: I just saw there is a similar post in the hardware section:

Sadly enough, I am facing the same problem on 8 cards. The gigabyte 7950 won't even mine with 2/3 fans going. After about 16 months, all my fans died out.

All I can seem to find are those full cover waterblocks, and I don't really want to buy 8 of those either.

Anyone with some insight please help!

Why not switch over to water cooling?

Essentially, you replace the fans and heatsinks on your video cards for water blocks. Those water blocks are attached with hoses leading to a reservoir and radiator to keep the liquid cool. There's a little bit of maintenance by adding the coolant, but it'll keep those cards frosty cool.

Have you guys tried strapping a 120mm fan to the stock heatsink ?

Zalman and Gelid both offer great soloutions. My only complaint is the flimsy wires used on the Gelid Icy Vision-a Rev.1 fans. eg they easily frey/ short out.

Hopefully they fixed that with the Rev.2.
