Title: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: TheArabPanzer on November 24, 2013, 07:24:43 PM Hey guys,
Well I bought the Jalapeno miner(5 GH/s) from a friend for 250$. I listed it on eBay to see what I could get for it. I set the starting auction at 200 and the buy now option for 500$. Literally within 5 minutes I got a notification that somebody bought it for 500$! Should I have put it to a higher buy it now option or have i just been struck lucky? Thanks. Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: BitcoinNews.io on November 24, 2013, 07:59:24 PM yeah, i've heard stories of buyers claiming they received a box of bricks rather than hardware. and obviously scammers aren't very price sensitive, so if they are willing to pay well over the market price, that's a warning sign.
Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: BitcoinNews.io on November 24, 2013, 08:06:43 PM check what other 5 GH/s Jalapeno miner sell for. looking at some of the auctions the prices, you don't seem to have under priced it too much.
Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: lordzandaar on November 24, 2013, 08:11:06 PM if you just search for 'bitcoin' on ebay, you can see that almost everything related goes for way higher than the actual price. (e.g. miners or 0.01 BTC)
Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: BitcoinNews.io on November 24, 2013, 08:14:02 PM my search was "Jalapeno miner(5 GH/s)".
Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: Gator-hex on November 24, 2013, 08:28:08 PM People seem to pay double what it's worth on eBay Bitcoin machines.
Having something for immediate shipment kinda adds value I guess. Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: BitcoinNews.io on November 24, 2013, 08:33:26 PM bingo. in economics it's called 'time preference' -- people prefer to get things sooner rather than later.
Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: Itun on November 24, 2013, 08:47:05 PM I think you could have gotten a bit more
Currently, because of the increase in price for btc, the price of bitcoin miners increased... a lot However, you still got a lot of money Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: dogjunior on November 24, 2013, 09:04:39 PM You could have probably gone higher but $500 seems fair on eBay.
Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: huskerbrown on November 24, 2013, 09:09:23 PM You could have probably gone higher but $500 seems fair on eBay. Prices on eBay for mining equipment is pretty volatile right now. I'm considering dumping my 30+ USB miners because they are going for so high. What do you think would be a ridiculous price for 30 USB Miners, Hubs and Fans? Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: enuro12 on November 24, 2013, 09:14:29 PM Amazon too. They had the 10gb Asic miner for 238 last monday. It's $378 now.

Post by: cryptosprinter on November 24, 2013, 09:30:36 PM When I got my Jalapeno I wasn't satisfied with the amount of coins I was mining. After a few calculations and at the rate difficulty was climbing I realized I would never make back my investment back. So I sold it for $200 to a friend. If you made $500, in my opinion that's good business. I'ts not likely that you'll ever get that much through mining, once you take into account electricity costs.

Title: Re: I bought a miner from a friend.. Post by: ajw7989 on November 24, 2013, 10:17:29 PM 500 is not severely underpriced you might have been able to get maybe 50 more but overall what you made in profit is a lot and more than that machine will ever make.
