Isn't the VIX based on the options market?  Or did you have some formula for volatility?  Just look at the Bollinger bands.  They represent two standard deviations.  Volatility makes them wider.

Hi notme,
I know the bollinger bands and what they are based on.
The VIX is not restricted to options. It`s also for stocks.

VIX is a measure of stock volatility, but it is calculated based on the options market:

Theoretically it is a weighted blend of prices for a range of options on the S&P 500 index.

you are right
as there doesn`t exist any options for BTC, no volatility is to be measured by that way.
So I will work with the bollinger bands which I like.
