This is because someone was using "image counters" (pixel-type or otherwise) in a recent incident... except it was something perhaps a bit worse (the pixel / tracking / counter image method was being used to leak people's IP addresses and such, and perhaps even some other "unspecific things which are bad" described by at least on forum admin as "an attack") I'll be clicking "report this post" on the thread to get an admin comment (I've encountered at least 6 threads in the past 24 hours with broken images which normally work fine, but not through the proxy.
