iXcoin price is up over 100% in the last few days.

This trading is in anticipation of the release of an updated client based on the Bitcoin 0.8.5 code base.

iXcoin in the last few months have sky-rocketed in difficulty with a network hashrate of an incredible 1.5 Peta Hashes per Second.  Yes,  your eyes don't deceive you, more precisely 1,518,211.2794 Ghs.  

This kind of network security are bested only by a few other alt-coins.  Just for comparison, Bitcoin has a hashrate of only 4 times that of iXcoin!

With the new code base, iXcoin will be on par with the latest security fixes of the Bitcoin network.

You and Vlad should get a room.  But it has looked nice lately.

Just to mark the post, iXcoin is at .000109 BTC buy at Cryptsy.  That is equivalent to 8.9 cents based on MtGox current price.

iXcoin is ridiculously secure!

Now some folks need to take advantage of that security.

That's why the colored coin implementation is key!

What I would like to see is that alternate financial instruments like stocks, bonds, coupons etc.  be traded using iXcoin as its infrastructure rather polluting the BTC block chain.

Mastercoin for example has a 'fictitious' market cap of $82 million, that is 40 times that of iXcoin.  However, right now they are functionally equivalent (only basic send coin).    However, if iXcoin is recognized as the primary vehicle for smart contracts, then a 40x increase in the price of iXcoin is not unlikely.

Miners have been slow to take up merged mining, so the ideal situation, in which the entire family of merged mined coins (Bitcoin as parent chain, seven child chains all merged alongside it) simply has not been arrived at yet.

IXCoin is way up there in hashing power simply because more merged-mining pools and miners who merged-mine include it in their merge.

Hopefully we will see the rest of the merged mined family also get more hashpower as more miners realise they are leaving money on the table by only merging a few of them.

Merge mining is a good thing.  Satoshi in fact proposed it.

The coins that are merged mine are more secure than the coins that are not.

Still, any merge mined coin needs to justify its existence.

The coins that the plots and tables at http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html show skyrocketing way up above Bitcoin already consider their existence justified.

Justifying mining them though is harder, they need a lot of transaction fee volume before they can reasonably hope to get enough miners in order to be able to justify going back to using blockchain technology as their method of securing their ledgers.

Blockchains are insanely expensive to secure, it is really hard to justify using blockchains actually.

Merged mining though was hoped to be able to make the use of blockchains at least a little more justifiable.

Vircurex is showing IXCoin as having less difficulty, but more hash rate, than DeVCoin.

Likely we are just seeing variance, it is not estimating the hash rate of one or both coins quite right, maybe because one or both changed difficulty and it has not had enoguh blocks to average out to discover approximate actual hash rate.

Yes, is appears to be the case for the longest time, DVC has higher difficulty but hash rate between IXC and DVC are around the same.

I haven't seen DVC code, but like the difficulty adjustment algorithm is different.

Actually, you can see at coinwarz.com that DVC difficulty changes differently for IXC difficulty.

300,000 GHs increase since the previous report.

IXCoin just surpassed 9 Peta Hashes, higher than Devcoin (for now) and catching up to the coin that died: NameCoin.  Once at number 2, iXCoin should be obviously the silver to Bitcoin's gold.

IXC may be more like Paladium (Less rare than Gold, but with more useful properties)

DVC would be more like Copper

Watching very closely.

I know NameCoin is not dead - I said it died, and it died massively.

For the purpose of mass adoption that makes it dead for any future mass adoption.  Nobody will take a massive global risk on a coin with health issues or death history.  So now we really only have Devcoin as a merge mined opponent.

Likely the difficulty changed so the estimation is wonky until it has lots of blocks at the new difficulty to average?
