Title: Do not post merit related dramas here (Please Read)
Post by: shield132 on May 01, 2018, 05:06:37 PM
It's really, really annoying to see all shits posted so frequently.
Since merit related threads aren't officially off-topics, these people create as much annoying threads as possible including how merit ruined their life, they have no money after merit, I have no future because of merits and etc...
Maybe it would be OK when merit was new thing but still again? Enough is enough.
Hope this will be pinned or actions will be strict against spam merit thread creators. Or delete my thread if you wish too, just prevent it, it's all I want.
Maybe it's better to delete, don't know...
If you promise that reports will work, then delete my thread!

Edit: Seems people use this thread to spam so closed!

Sometimes I read merit posts for the lulz, Just like that one where that russian dude said that merit destroyed his life.  :P

But that same thing you wrote goes for the cloud mining topics. No matter how much people say that it's not viable and that people should not invest into them, there are still people who are asking about it and, even worse, invest into it.

If you ask me, warning about cloud mining services should be a sticky.

Give it more few months I guess all those people will get tired eventually. The spammers will start packing their begs to leave to other places and the forum  will be a much better place. This is all I hope.

That's what I've been saying ever since merit was implemented but they're being persistent. ;D it's like they can't understand that no matter how many posts they make, they won't be ranking up. :/

But tomorrow never dies. :P

Something similar happens on the gambling section with people asking if martingale-type betting systems will work, although we have explained that ad nauseam.

I find it tiring so many posts about merit but there are some good ones, so when I find some of the moaning/crying ones, I just skip them.

That's because they hear rumors of a merit black market.

Assuming no sources are supplying this market, it will eventually dry up.   :)

That's what I thought. but every sMerit awarded by a merit source creates almost another sMerit to be fed round their system. It's why I started to put people who are likely to sustain the merit abuses on ignore. I want to starve the merit selling system. This means that some posts that should receive merit from me, don't get it. I'm not sure that the merit sellers and abusers realise that they are starving themselves of the merit that they need so deperately. At some stage penalties for abusing the merit system will have to be introduced. It is clear that it is quite capble of feeding itself for a considerble time.

Is it the first time someone is showing concern about this issue?
Not at all. Almost every person being even just a little honest to the forum has at least once said this thing.

What difference did that make?
Nothing at all! No matter what we feel, or what we say, the truth is that this thing would not stop unless there are posting restrictions for accounts in various boards. Without that, people will keep coming, and keep asking the same things for as long as the forum or the Merit system exists. And all we can do is to either ignore them and move on, or just keep posting bitter statements to them or against them. That would still not change a thing though, but it just gives us a personal satisfaction to a certain level.

Everything you need to know about the merit system is on this section. If they are to whine about it, their threads need to be removed, thus less spam. Every time I come to the Meta section, I see people talking about Merit system. It is already May, and the world Cup is around the corner, and Ramadan (For Muslims) is coming soon, and people are still talking about the merit system and how it ruines their lives. Move on, already.

I really doubt that something like that will happen. Yeah, probably with time complaining to merit system will go down,  but it will not disappear for sure. Just like threads 'why my profile was banned?', they appear over and over again and in the most of cases the reasons are same in every case.

Honestly, I stopped dedicating myself to Merit points from several weeks.
it's such a meaningless system that it makes no sense to spend time with it.

Few more months? Merit system was introduced in January and now it's May already! I don't believe that spammers will leave Bitcointalk, they will just continue to complain about Merit system or ask basic questions about it. Same like they were asking about activity before Merit system, now asking how to join bonunty campaigns, which ICO to choose, how to buy BTC and etc.

Someday, those spammers will stop complaining (only newcomers will complain). Nevertheless, I strongly believe that total number of merit-complaining threads will fall considerably over time. The main reason is newcomers will come for a long time after the launch day of merit system, then consequently they will automatically accept the system.
The most complained users are old users (of course, spammers) who got stucked at their current ranks due to merit system and a little bit jealous with higher-ranked users, who are less affected by merit system and new rank requirements.

By the way, I support the merit system and hope to see stricter rules (official ones) related to the system for all forum users.
