Title: my-btc.info: How best to transfer bitcoin across accounts?
Post by: professordave on November 26, 2013, 07:09:24 PM
Hello,

I am a newbie so I cannot post in the correct thread.

I am using the portfolio manager my-btc.info and it is great.

The question is if I have created two linked accounts, one for each exchange.

If I transfer bitcoin from 1 exchange to the other, how best to represent this in the portfolio manager?

Do I need to enter a fake transaction in the first account showing a sell of the bitcoin for $0 dollars. This is to remove the bitcoins from this account

Then in the target account, so a fake transaction buying those bitcoins for $0 dollars. This is to enter the bitcoins in this account.

This would leave the balances in the two accounts correct, but wouldn't then skew the average sell and buy cost of the bitcoins.

Yes, you are wright. Currently it is not possible to transfer coins or money from one account to another. But this function is on my todo list and I will make it in the next weeks.

Now you must transfer this coins manually as you said.
So you need to make a transfer vrom X BTC into 0 USD to delete this coins from one account and 0 USD into X BTC to add it in the second account.
And yes, unfortunately it will destroy your balance except you delete the coins with the price you bought them (e.g.10 BTC into 5000 USD) but this is very difficult when you have a lot of trades.

But in some weeks there should be a function for this :-)

Best wishes
