Title: Mining and some other misc questions :D
Post by: CoinKid on November 26, 2013, 09:58:21 PM
Being a Newbie, I though I'd make my first contribution to this site.  For starters, when I registered, I entered a password that was less than 8 letters long.  At first it didn't allow me to register due to my short password, so I typed a new password.  After I re-submitted my registration it displayed a message saying "you just registered 45 seconds ago!"  I assume that this restriction was meant for people who spam user creation.   But if I typed too short of a password, it'd be nice if I could register right after typing in a new password.  Anyways

I'm fairly new to bitcoin and this form technology.  As of now I have no idea how to mine... But with my research, I've noticed that BTC and LTC are not very profitable in terms of gathering fast
Coins.   I want to get started with PPC mining but I have no idea how to set up a rig or a fast computer that I can utilize the mining software on.   Does it take actual knowledge of computer programming or can anyone with the right funds and will power get started?

Thanks for the help!

No need for programming knowledge whatsoever. The only thing it takes is to read guides / forums and not to be intimidated by the command line and the editing of config files in some cases.

As a newbie, it is probably best to forget mining and just either buy some bitcoin or alts.
Mining is laborious and almost always unprofitable for the masses.  A few CPU coins might be ok, but very slow, to mine, but with a normal computer GPU mining is a no go and Bitcoin impossible.

For 18$/LTC is quite profitable. For all i know people might start buying gpu's again if this price holds :P
