Title: Can anyone recommend an exchange to use to buy bitcoins? And not wait a week?
Post by: Edward50 on November 26, 2013, 11:40:33 PM
I tried coinbase but they make me wait a week to receive my bitcoins and I do not want to wait. I am also turned off by their high exchange fees.

Can someone recommend an exchange that I can send money  to and buy bitcoins that I can actually use without waiting a week?

I live in USA.

Right now I am looking at an exchange like mt gox, btc-e, bitstamp.

What is the best way to transfer money to these exchanges?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi There,

Not very well known but coin.Mx will get you verified on the spot and the accepts debit and credit card deposits.

Since you're in the US, the 3 largest exchanges you can use are mtgox, bitstamp, and btc-e. None are perfect, and in fact they're more or less the same: they all require picture ID and address verification before they can trust you, and this can take a week or more. Then getting money into and out of the exchange will be at least another few days for the banks to process.

Go with localbitcons.com (https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=ly5) for directly buying and selling BTCs. Not only do you avoid all the verification process and slow $ transfers, the fees are lower as well. I have some BTCs to sell on there, so shoot me a PM if you want do directly exchange a few.

Go with localbitcoins, mate

Physical meetings are a pain but the best way to get it done on balance

You don't even need to meet directly, just do a cash deposit into the sellers account.

+1 to Localbitcoins, you pay a small premium for not having to wait for verification to buy from the big Exchanges.

On another topic...

Do you have any more info on their service? There's been a bit of discussion about them in the newbie section...

A lot of the website appears to have either "stock" marketing material, and/or it's fake.

Sorry for the slow reply.

So far I have added my debit and credit cards to coin.mx. Deposit are on the spot. Ive done over 5000 in deposits and that part works fine. The site itself is a little buggy. Withdraws are not consistent and can take a while sometimes. Trades usually work fine but be careful as the market price can be off by a lot. always check the order book first.

So yea it works. I like them a lot better then coinbase and really is the fastest way to pay for coins in a decent exchange like system.

In saying this be careful and ask the support person as much questions as you see fit. With bugga all backround info its hard to say if they are legal. could be a money laundering outfit and shutdown anytime.

Also note they are the same operators of bcoinmarket.com

thanks

You could try Localbitcoins but BTCs there are usually more expensive. BTC delivery would be pretty fast if you could find a good seller though.

Interesting... I just found them on Google; used and liked the speed of their service as well. I even wrote a review of the process. I've never heard of their other site, but yip, it's the same company. Now why would they do that?

When i asked support how many people use the site i was told 2000 lol. Outright lie. The old site was not bad at all for getting coins but they had little control due to buying from exchanges. So what they did was make their own one. The coins are mainly their own i would say. And they have full control of their market.

Done.

Acessing digicoins.tk from South America, the website comes up in Spanish.  Any idea how to change the language to English?
Edit:  nevermind, it's a Spanish language site and doesn't seem to have an English version.
I've looked at a couple of the other sites on the list and the listed choices to pay for bitcoin don't include the most efficient one -- a simple ach transfer from a US bank.  I went on the xchanga chat to ask, and they do accept ach for purchases over 2000 dollars.
I'm also concerned about how they determine the price of btc for the sale.  Xchanga said something about buyers set a price and ask xchanga to make the sale when btc drops to that price.  I'm not really sure how that works.  You send them the money and hope the price of btc goes to the price you have chosen?  What if it doesn't?  If anybody here has used a service like xchanga I'd like to hear about it.

Bitfinex is good and you can long or short easily. Same day withdrawals also

localbitcoins is really good.  Also people forget that bitfinex is good for deposit/withdraws via wire transfer.  They are also a good exchange/margin trading since they sync with bitstamp

Localbitcoins with a highly trusted member and with bank deposit (if you don't like the face to face deals). None of the big exchangers today allow a deal without Identity Verification and bankwire's take time to confirm so waiting a week is almost mandatory.
