Title: Can ASIC's be used to mine any coins other than Bitcoin? [ltc,wdc,etc.]

Just trying to figure out why difficulty is so low on some of them and whether it'd be worth it to buy a mining rig

Simple answer: bitcoin is "old" compared to altcoins.

That alone explains why difficulty is so low on many of them...

Bitcoin was two years here before any other altcoin appeared.

best coin you can mine with asic beside bitcoin is peercoin.
