Has 24 gb ssd, but is i7 1.9 or http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Essential-Laptop-Computer-59402507/dp/B00G5K8TC0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1385594668&sr=1-1&keywords=lenovo+g510+intel+core+i7-4700mq is 4th generation, but has 5400rpm hd, no ssd so which should i get not considering price? Thanks Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: Kreigyr on November 28, 2013, 12:23:16 AM Be aware this is the wrong forum for this kind of stuff - I believe it should go in the off-topic section.
However, the G510 listed will likely be substantially faster than the other system despite the lack of an SSD, given that it has a newer, full-power, quad-core CPU versus the Vivobook's low-voltage, old, dual-core CPU, as well as the faster GPU in the G510. The extra RAM doesn't hurt, either. Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: tekke on November 28, 2013, 02:29:30 AM The Asus will boot faster due to the SSD, it has a touchscreen display , that is a nice feature , and the battery will last longer due to the use of a low wattage cpu, but the Lenovo is better:
The CPU in the lenovo is more powerful It has the double of ram memory. The integrated graphic card in the lenovo is 1 generation ahead (HD4600 vs HD4000) so it should perform a bit better. Thus the difference in price. Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: Speaker on November 28, 2013, 03:28:25 AM The one without the touchscreen you trendy lamer.
Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: accord01 on November 28, 2013, 03:33:29 AM lol trendy lamer haha. The thing is, the lenovo doesn't ahve ssd and its only 5400 rpm hard drive...
Also, could i install windows 7 onto the windows 8 computer? Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: PenAndPaper on November 28, 2013, 03:42:11 AM Consider the newegg one and ask them to pay with bitcoins :P

Also, could i install windows 7 onto the windows 8 computer? just the ssd is not a valid excuse to chose the asus, better CPU , better graphics and the doube of ram memory are more important IMHO. Besides its just a 24gb ssd, it would last the S.O and one or two programs . It's your call but in that case , try to find another laptop with a larger ssd, Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: beetcoin on November 28, 2013, 06:40:30 AM 4th gen is a good deal better than the 3rd gen intel.. runs cooler and longer battery life. the hybrid SSD drive isn't all that great, in my opinion. your o/s is bigger than 24GB, so it won't even be loaded on the drive.

Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: beetcoin on November 28, 2013, 07:16:24 AM yeah prices have dropped even more recently.. forget the SSD. you can add a 120GB one for $50-60ish bucks anyways.

Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: Speaker on November 28, 2013, 07:26:40 AM the one that is faster for mining :) Laptops are a no no for mining. Makes the PSU way too hot so I'm told. I was gonna mine LTC on my shit laptop's CPU many months ago but thank God I didn't or it would be fried. Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? You're not gonna make your monies worth back and you'll probably just fry it. I once had a laptop that set on fire from constant torrenting alone. Either spend the money you was gonna buy on some coin, or get a half-decent rig. Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better? Post by: bxbb on November 28, 2013, 04:17:14 PM Has 24 gb ssd, but is i7 1.9 or 4th generation, but has 5400rpm hd, no ssd Which is easier? To upgrade the drive or processor? ;) BTW, both ThinkPad and Ideapad have a storage adapter which can be used to replace DVD Drive with additional 2.5" Drive. Dunno if it's fit into G-series, however. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/0C22232/460/C137870D130147318E9BF8A5F4FAE077 http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=460&Code=0B47315&category-id=FDCD14101F7E452CBBA91660EB85C922&hide_menu_area=yes Title: Re: Confused: which laptop is better?
