Read this http://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?board=3.0 and then tell me, as an investment in coins its a good bet, bring some developers with you and build some sites where the coins can be used and you could bank there too,Bitcoin is still the most established, no end in site there.

I suggest looking for something truly different, I've been looking into Emunie and a few others with unique models, I'm really interested in currency that is a little more stable in price and one that is encouraged to spend.  Everything is going crazy, so I'd suggest waiting a few months for things to cool down before putting in some real money.

+1! eMunie is going to blow everyone away with what it is bringing to the table - truly anonymous, no mining (earn interest without doing anything), built in exchange, built in chat, built in messaging system, built in private, encrypted hosting where you can put up a page and sell ANYTHING! Just think of the implications of that alone - just like Silk Road, minus TOR, minus the centralization that can take it down. Anyone can publish their eMunie name and customers can make a direct, encrypted, private connection to the seller! It's going to be huge IMHO!

PPC and QRK are also good choices as PPC is a POS system that is more energy-efficient than Bitcoin. Some even believe PPC could become the new BTC one day!

QRK is also good because it can be mined on CPUs, thus no specialized equipment such as ASIC miners (which keeps the coin in the average person's control, not a handful of big players with a lot of money in mining gear).

Purchase or mine a small amount of the top 20 and bottom 20 in market cap, then see what happens.

Code:

Quite the action indeed.

Invest in the undervalued ones, of course.

Digitalcoin and Gridcoin are two of my favorites right now
That's actually not a good idea. If you had bought LTC less than 24hours ago, you would have doubled your money.

Devcoin and Litecoin is what I'm going for right now.

I saved up about $1,000 worth of Devcoin. Converted a little to BTC (About $290+) It was a short time, and didn't take that long. Have some LTC saved up, too. (Not sure how much. I want it to be a surprise when I check my wallets.)

If Devcoin and Litecoin doesn't make it, then I'm screwed.

If you bump it a few times, you will see people just writing their favorites. In that event investing in any one of them would be a risk.

Here is my take:

I always look for a coin with a very strong support team, vision, and functionality in the real world.  Peercoin definitely has these three, as evidence by the 100,000,000 market cap and the strong plan going into the London conference.

Worldcoin (WDC) is currently my favorite speculative investment.  They have a financial service coming out shortly that will allow users to convert WDC directly to fiat, making it super-easy for small business merchants to accept the coin alongside bitcoin.  The market cap has exploded recently as they near the beta testing date for the financial service (Dec 20th).  Also, the coin confirms in under 30 seconds so it's lightening fast - another bonus for merchants.  Check out the Worldcoin IRC for more info - the developers are in there constantly.

The third coin I am starting to like is Megacoin, but I don't know about it enough to provide an educated response.  They definitely have their act together though, especially from a communications standpoint.

Place a bounty up for the work you need done, or any help you might need, talent does not really give out industry secrets for free, unless they are familiar with you or just feeling generous.
Also-use the search bar, many people want their coins to be used, there may be an easy option listed here somewhere.

P.S. Be careful

As has been mentioned, you should invest in altcoins that bring something new to the table. Case in point: Zerocoin, when it's released next year and can be mined, will be a very worthy investment, as it features complete anonymity. Namecoin and Primecoin are also worthy investments for what they do.

Zerocoin is flawed, next.
MEC seems like a much better investment that NMC or PPC, look at the charts. It is catching up.

Datacoin, the only coin that has a real benefit and is something new. Almost all coins are Bitcoin clones that waste energy and do nothing useful. Datacoin has a great potential, as you can spend coins for file storage. It's is hard to mine, and quite rare. I expect the price to rise 200% within 1 month.

Nibble are completely undervaluated right now. They can't become even cheaper. But almost nobody trades them right now.

I agree with Namecoin, Primecoin and PPcoin as well but waiting for a coin to be released is not an option. Things are moving way to fast nowadays.

I think EZC worth the investment, because I don't know too many people in EZC. It is just a temporary low prices. If I'm wrong, please forgive me!
