Title: [CLOSED] batch #43 .34, .39 btc per ASICMiner Cube 30-38Gh/s
Post by: CanaryInTheMine on November 28, 2013, 03:40:57 AM
Setup Guide: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=352658.0

CLOSED  each cube is verified to run and no Xs.  when you receive it, you should still make sure all cards are seated properly.

One Cube is .39 btc.   more pictures are here (thank you yxt!!): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=335440.0
Order 8 Cubes at once and pay .34 btc per Cube.  Requires a 50 lbs label. 16x16x16 box dimensions.

Payment address: 1KjXGLJ2zcZ62a9BDp9i3fgZmiAfLDMch1

You will need to email me a label per below info (please read the OP in it's entirety).  If you want to spend btc on shipping, add .04 to the cost of a Cube and have me generate a label for you.  you spending USD on creating your own label is your most cost effective option however.  described below:

For shipping, each cube will be in it's own 8x8x8 box. each box is 7 pounds. you should consider insurance, but it's up to you...

so if you have 2 cubes on order, you'll send 2 labels, 1 for each cube.
3 on order, send 3 labels etc... etc...

it's important that the weight is 7 pounds on the label for each cube.  if it's not, post office could delay shipping.

IFF you order 8, then you will need 1 label with 50 pounds of weight and I do recommend FedEx label for this case.  8 Cubes will ship in 1 box.

those who have fedex accounts or can email me a fedex label, you can do so.

When creating the labels via USPS/FedEx, it's up to you to choose the type of service: Priority/Express, Ground/Next Day etc...

~30 Gh/s guaranteed speed, with overclocking and proper cooling & power they can reach speads of 38Gh/s.
Spec power consumption, approximately 200W, and 280W+ when over-clocked
135.5 mm x 152.5 x 147.5

no PMing me your shipping address as a signed message anymore.  You will sign 1 string only: tracking # of your label/s
friedcat's post is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=270573.0
International buyers: please contact your respective re-seller: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=270573.0

I provide The Fastest delivery to you, bar none!

This batch has a simple setup.  you pay 1 price, provide a label and I ship.  I don't care where you want me to ship it to (domestically).

You don't need to spend btc on shipping! spend USD instead and provide me with a shipping label you buy

how to create a shipping label by BorisAlt: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=277332.msg2971486#msg2971486 (shipping from zip 60181)

I am located 4 miles from a MAJOR DHL and FedEx hub that receives these orders from China.  My delivery times are the best.  packages sent to me by ASICMiner are in my hand the same day they enter US.  They do not take an extra day or two to travel the country to get to me.  It takes me 11 minutes to drive to DHL when necessary.   My location is in a major metropolitan area next to a LARGE international airport that is a hub for shipping for all delivery companies.  This gives me access to DHL, FedEx (also just 4 miles away, open till 9 PM for next day shipping).  I have access to several Post Offices around me.  I can ship USPS till 7 PM.  I ship to you the same day I receive my delivery.  Simply put, I am in the best position geographically and logistically to receive an order and to get it out to you ASAP.  Period.

HOW TO SIGN A MESSAGE TO ME (YOUR SHIPPING INFO): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195647.msg2291965#msg2291965 Please NOTE: the above example is NOT the same as sending a signed message with your transaction. If you are new to this (aka noob), please read this so that you understand what to do.  This is the single most problematic step in the ordering process.  Here's how to sign a message with a blockchain.info wallet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=180068.0 Please verify the signed message yourself before you send it to me

how to send a shipping label:
you will essentially download a pdf label from usps and email it to canary.btc@gmail.com (email used for labels only, contact with questions via PM here)
in the body of the email, you will have 4 things:
1. transaction id of your order
2. 1st payment address of the transaction
3. tracking number (no spaces)
4. Signature (your will sign ONLY the tracking # from item #3)
additionally, if you use this method, you no longer need to PM me shipping address as a signed message.  trying to make things simpler for all.
I will check that the tracking number in item 3 matches the label exactly.
See post #2 below for an example.

Common Questions:
When will I receive my order? Answer: I ship out the same day I receive inventory from ASICMiner/friedcat.  I do reserve up to 1 day to get it done in case DHL delivers later in the day.

Can you confirm my order? Answer:  you can confirm your own order by looking up the transaction id of your payment.  if it has confirmations that is your confirmation that your funds were received.  This is what I would do to "confirm" your order.  bitcoin is designed in a way to allow you to confirm and see what you've done.

Folks and miners,

As announced in the Official ASICMINER Hardware Information (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=270573.0) thread, I am a reseller in the USA of ASICMiner products.  International buyers, please contact your respective re-sellers.

Please Note:
Only send payments from an address you control (i.e. you can sign with it). If you send from MtGox or other exchanges, you risk loosing your funds since you can't prove you sent them. Please send from a wallet you can sign a message with.  You will send your shipping address via this method.

Policy update:
Refunds: Your orders are binding after your funds have been used to pay for an order.  Before that (while coins are piling up for the next batch), you can ask for a refund and will get it paid back in full. Understand that after you get refunded, I will not accept future orders from you.  Refund processing takes a significant amount of time and should not be expected instantly.

----------------------

Ordering:

There is one common payment address: 1KjXGLJ2zcZ62a9BDp9i3fgZmiAfLDMch1

To buy:

pick the number of ASICMiner Block Erupter Cubes to order: N.
send the appropriate amount C=N * price  listed above. email me a label. I ship.

ensure the sending btc address is under your control, so you can sign with it in case of disputes

Shipment:
The cubes will be shipped to you same day I receive them but not longer than 1 day of me receiving them (just in case DHL has a very late delivery for ex.).

Communication:
I live in Chicago (CST time zone: UTC/GMT -5 hours) and have a day-job that allows me ample time to devote to this endeavor. I do sleep at night, so if I don't answer at night, please be patient.  I'm pretty open and transperant with info.  I post it as soon as I have it, I do not withhold from anyone.  Please respect everyone's time.

Cheers,

Canary

- you sell
- you pay me
- send me the appropriate label (pdf) you generate for your sold order.
- I ship from zip 60181
- sit back and relax... don't bother shipping yourself.

Thanks,

Will the labels be the same as the first GB for single cube orders?

For a single Cube order: specify 6 pounds of weight and a box of 15x9x8 size.

2nd post says refer to OP, but I didn't see it in the OP.

Thanks.

The last difficulty adjustments were 16, 19, 30, 46, 41, 27, 32, 29, 32, 29, 35, 19, 19, 22, 10, 23, 28, 8, 11, 12, 16, 14, 38, 10. Show me how you put that in the genesis block and I'll accept its profitability calculations.

I've gotten a few emails regarding this group while forums are having an issue.
the group is still on and orders can be placed.
Thanks!

If the forum goes down again and doesn't go back-up, can we just email you the shipping label (as per directions in OP) on Friday December 6th?

unlikely to use same boxes.
Cubes don't really fit into "traditional" USPS boxes, so I have to find other boxes.  1st batch was OK, but I wasn't too happy with boxes, so for second batch I'm planning on something else.  Hence, as requested, please wait for instructions.
Thanks

There is no quick way. You should hold onto your bitcoins instead. Squandering your bitcoins on mining hardware is a foolish thing to do at this stage. By this time next year, a btc will be worth around $10,000; if you bought miners instead, you'd be much poorer.

I hope you're trolling... Read the FAQ on OP's post.

You must use a wallet that you can send signed messages with, such as the client or blockchain.  Coinbase does not have the ability to send signed messages since they do not send funds from your wallet.  When you send funds from coinbase, it is sent from a coinbase address, not your address.  There is no way to prove who actually sent the funds from coinbase.

In other words, if you sent money w/ coinbase, you just sent an unverifiable payment.  aka, you sent an unmarked clear envelope of money to Canary.  Everyone can see the envelope and its contents, nobody knows who it's from.

Perhaps Canary can work with you on this... but you'll likely have to wait.  Please read the instructions next time.

If you have not already sent from coinbase to Canary you will need to send the BTC to a wallet you control the Windows bitcoin-QT or mycelium on android first. from that wallet sent to Canary.

When you send in the shipping label PDF you will sign the tracking number with the address you sent the btc with. only your wallet can do this. This will prove you sent the BTC

Anyone can find a TX number that sends BTC to the group buy address and post it here but they can't sign the tracking number.

AFAIK, you cannot refund coinbase transactions.  The sent-from address is NOT your wallet address, so sending payment to that address will likely result in btc being given to some random address...

How do I know this?  I tested using coinbase to send 0.001btc to a dice game, followed the transaction, and my winnings went back to the transmit address, but nothing showed up in my account.  I assume coinbase now has an extra 0.002 btc.

Still can't sign but can't you go to Account settings Bitcoin addresses to find your sending address? I have sent BTC back to a number of these addresses and it shows in my wallet.

Just need to find link between address in wallet and xmiting add in blockchain.

Guys, you actually can sign a message from a coinbase address.  Just go to Account Settings --> Bitcoin Addresses --> Details (for the address you're interested in) --> "Click to sign a message with this address"

I tested it, it works fine.

For example:  From 1Ns8khLU4SEAyXp8XP53YBuWiHBG5Y9oFW

Message to sign:
This is a dummy message.

Signature:  G6qsJtOSY2X6M7fXlJHxweSKOEmS97+qof9DKF9ammlomU57EToInU5D/S8Jm25ipnnOe8Knko88GJoaVFVbUW0=

Sorry, first time bitcoin miner buyer here. If I understand it right the process is:

1) Send BC to address listed in OP
2) Post amounts bought with transaction ID
3) Wait for shipping instructions via PM (which also involves message signing using address used to send the BC payment)

Am I getting the gist of it right? Sorry for being a newb at this. Thanks.

Canary will most likely post shipping instructions here as a post, rather than a PM. Once we have all that, we will need to get a label created, the tracking number signed and the whole thing emailed to Canary as noted in the OP.

If I'd like to purchase one but am buying BTC from coinbase today, should I wait until funds are available to send or reserve now?

You guys should move your side-transactions off this thread.  PM or another thread.  Since some of you can't read , or didn't read carefully, Canary works off of the buyer sending him shipping labels.  All the buyer has to do is print a label directing the shipment to the successive buyer, and you'll get your Cube.

That is... assuming you would trust a fellow buyer here...

Now for the shipping info... can't wait to get these powered up.

I guess the days of same day shipping (ships once he gets payment) by the cat from China are long gone. He's not the holy cat in my book anymore.

1. Is this the only profitable machines you can get right now?

2. When is the next shipment available?

Hashrate/$ is on the high side, but the Cubes and Blades are one of the few options that you can buy and receive immediately at the moment. Most other offerings are small batched and may not see them again for weeks or months. These later ASICs will be much better in terms of price/performance, but are at least 4 months out.

As for question 2, Im sure Canary has another batch in the works following this order.

For shipping, each cube will be in it's own 8x8x8 box. each box is 7 pounds. you should consider insurance, it's up to you...

so if you have 2 cubes on order, you'll send 2 labels, 1 for each cube.
3 on order, send 3 labels etc... etc...
6 Cubes ordered, please send 6 labels.

it's important that the weight is 7 pounds.  if it's not, post office could delay shipping.

I'm not using Region C boxes because they are just not very cost effective as it turned out last time.

those who have fedex accounts or can email me a fedex label, you can do so.

When creating the labels via USPS/FedEx, it's up to you to choose the type of service: Priority/Express, Ground/Next Day etc...

I do have tracking from friedcat.  As I see the shipment progress (enter US for ex.) I'll post updates here.

This is my first time printing a shipping label - sorry for my 2 noob questions:
* Do we wait for you to tell us what to enter for "Choose a Shipping Date" or does that not matter?
* I assume that UPS is not acceptable?

Printing USPS label requires that I put in a ship date :/

Guess I have to wait until you receive the cubes before creating the label so there will be a real ship date?

It looks like for the cheapest USPS and Fedex, we're right around $12/cube in shipping.  Does that sound right?  Is that what others are seeing?

I called Fedex about this and they said just use your own address and they bill you after the fact based on where it scans first and last.  To get a quote, temporarily change the ship from zip/city to the one where it ships from.

Canary,

You'll need a label per unit correct?

Thanks

-J

For shipping, each cube will be in it's own 8x8x8 box. each box is 7 pounds. you should consider insurance, it's up to you...

so if you have 2 cubes on order, you'll send 2 labels, 1 for each cube.
3 on order, send 3 labels etc... etc...
6 Cubes ordered, please send 6 labels.

I learned the hard way, and I'm sure frustrated Canary in doing so, that Armory does not digitally sign in a way that is compatible with the bitcoin-qt method, so make sure you don't sign it with Armory. (My understanding is that compatibility will come to Armory later)

I also learned this the hard way and was in a rush to get bitcoin-qt setup and signed a new message. Hopefully neither of our cubes are delayed because of it . .

The latest version of Armory (0.90-beta) will let you sign a message in Bitcoin-qt compatible format.  I installed the Ubuntu-64 bit version a couple weeks ago and it has a signing option called "Bare Signature (Bitcoin-Qt Compatible)".  It also supports base64 and clearsign formats.

I haven't seen any movement on my tracking numbers or gotten an email so I'm going to assume he's still working on stuff. Just be patient.

You were one of the first people to order, so that makes sense. I hope that Canary isn't waiting to send mine out on Friday just because that's what I set the shipping date as on the label. When I made the USPS label I had no idea when he would be able to start shipping, so I just put Friday as a guess.

Got mine a few mins ago. WOW, nicely built! Although 3 screws rattled out of the left most heat sink bank. No biggie to pull it out and reinstall them, but the reason  looks to be that the boards were not properly located in the extruded "notches"; allowing for them to bounce around during shipping.
Hopefully everything is fine aside from that.
Thanks Canary!! Great GP as always.  ;D

This is my first time ordering through him, placed mine on the 29th one of the first and had a friend vierfy I did it right and haven't heard a word nor has it shipped. I pm'd him a day or 2 ago to see if there was some issue but no response, is this common? I thought for sure I would have had it . Rt now I'd even pay for additional overnight shipping to get it. I didn't want to say anything to bother him cause he's got lots going on but this is a bummer, and if it's anything I'm sure I messed it up but let me know please

"great build quality!"
"found loose screws"
"loose blade"
...

Everyone, be sure to check your cubes for loose screws on the heatsinks and loose blades which may have come loose during shipment!  It takes only a few min to ensure that everything it properly tightened and connected.  The ASICminer products are great, but there's definitely some QA issues that everyone needs to inspect.  =)

What does it mean if the cube keeps restarting itself? I am using a corsair power supply which I previously used to power 4 of the old generation of blades. Followed the guide and all, but it keeps restarting after about 10 minutes running.

are the fans working in the cube.... if they fail it shuts off to save it self....

I received my units today.  One had screws rolling around and the other had screws loose.  Neither had the vertical cards in the slots properly.  Based on other threads, I knew this might be an issue so I took them apart and fixed these issues before even starting.

As far as PSU's, I tried using both an Antec Earth Watts 680 W and an EVGA 600 B with the paper clip trick and they fired up initially but then went off line in about 5-8 seconds.

Apparently these PSUs will turn off if certain loads don't exist.

I tried to hookup a simple case fan to both PSUs via a moldex converter to try and fool the PSU into powering on but no luck.

I hooked the EVGA PSU up to an older computer (that doesn't need the PCI-X power cables).  With the computer powered up, I have been able to get the unit to stay powered up.  No X's show which is good.  However, I am only getting 3-5 GH/s while mining.

I tested both the mining_proxy_1.2.0 on windows and bfgminer's proxy on linux but the hash rate remains un-changed.

Is anyone else seeing low hash rates like this? Have any idea how to fix them?

What PSU would be good enough to run 2 units via the paper clip trick (i.e. no need to use a computer to simulate load)?

Thanks

I use the Corsair TX850 to power two.  Works well with paperclip trick.

Thanks for the reply but it appears that unit is no longer available on new egg or directly from Corsair.  So I am still on the look out for a PSU.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your proxy setup?

Ok so I purchased a Cosair CX750M this morning.  It works with the paper clip trick and seems to be running 2 cubes just fine. However, the power wasn't the issue causing the poor performance.  It is nice to have 2 units on one power supply and not have to run it off a computer though.

My LAN was on the 172.0.16.* subnet and it appears that any stratum proxy hates this (even if the cubes are configured to point at the proper address and do connect - they will under perform).

After moving to the 192.168.1.* subnet, the units are hashing at a combined 59-64 GH/S (in low mode).

So you must be on a 192.168.*.* at the very least . . .

I'm running 1 cube and 2 blades ( 1 oc to 13 ) off a HX850.
I love these power supply's, got 2 more that have been on 24/7 over 8 months now pulling 750 watts continuous.
And a $350 electric bill to go along with it. ::)

The 172.0.16.x network is part of the AT&T U-verse network, which is a public network.

Did you mean to use 172.16.0.x which is for private network use?

Got mine today, Hashing away great! Couple things I noticed when I took the cube apart:

1. All the screws were loose on all the heat sinks.
2. Main board at the bottom was bowed and a few blades were not in there top slots pushing the bottom board down.

I took the whole thing apart and tightened all the screws on the heat sink, I also made sure the bottom board and blades were all in there
proper slots, fitting better and assuring the bottom board was not bowed at all.

I did notice when I over-clock, half of one board x's out and my hash rate drops, could be a weak board or my power supply. On low clock i get a steady 32gh/s which is pretty nice.

Thanks Canary, be sure to let us know when the next order comes through, I will be sure to order some more of these bad dogs!

Yes, I meant the private address - it was a typo.

The addresses were correct and talking to the proxy but never went above 6GHs.  After the change, it did hit up to the stated 64 GHs.

I think i spoke to soon because after powering the units off to move them to the permanent location on the shelf and restarting them, I am only getting 8-25 GHs combined.  No X's in the web GUI for either unit though.  Maybe I just have bum units?

None of my 4 cubes had the cards seated properly.  All have lose heatsink screws.  Two heatsink screws were lose in the chassis.

I disassembled and re-assembled the cubes.

One of the cubes gave out the magic smoke on power up.  There was a pop, sparks, and acidic smell.

Shutdown and checked the boards one by one.  One of the boards has capacitor C110 blew up.  The board has revision 3.1 PCB.

Well, that totally sucks.

All the usb sticks I got were top notch, had QC.  The cubes, not so good.

Where can I get replacement boards?  Or just ship me a couple C110 capacitor, I'll fix it myself.

Plan to spend some time with it.  If yours works out of the box (i.e. no loose screws, good PSU, full speed) then it sounds like you might be one of the lucky few.

I have 2 cubes and can't get 1/2 (15 GHs) of the advertised 30 GHs (for one unit) consistently out of BOTH of them combined.  Yet I have all Os in the web GUI.

Got mine yesterday.  Thanks Canary!!

As others have posted, it's best not to just try and power these on.  I took mine apart as soon as I unpacked it.  Mine had 2 heatsink screws rolling around inside.  All the other heatsink screws were loose.  Every board was misaligned and out of the guide slots in the chassis which made the mainboard bowed.  Once I re-assembled it properly it fired up fine and is getting ~37.6 GH/s with bfgminer 3.6.

Mine works great so far but there is obviously no quality control on the manufacture of these cubes so double check everything before applying power to them.

boat would be too slow for the rapid pace of btc. Maybe shipping is causing the issues as I can see them being packed like that as they would have to be tested ("QC mining ;-)  )

I've run into bandwidth issues running multiple cubes on the same proxy or router.  Try running a second proxy on another machine for the second cube.

I've run into bandwidth issues running multiple cubes on the same proxy or router.  Try running a second proxy on another machine for the second cube.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I have tried multiple setups over the last 3 days and can't seem to get it working right.

Even running 1 proxy with 1 cube on the same switch doesn't yield 15 GHs.  Which given the advertised 30GHs shouldn't be too much to expect.  I have tried BFGMiner 32 bit (on win7 and linux) as a proxy and I also tried the mining proxy on windows.  I also tried a direct connection to mint.bitminter.com (which does have get work enabled).

On the direct connection, I could understand the traffic limits but no on the local proxy.  I am on a 1 GB Ethernet switch - even if block erupter only has 10 or 100 MPS the host PC is 1 GB and should be able to saturate both cubes.

I even tried running the mining proxy with an account on slush's pool but no luck.

Check the voltage output from your PSU, it should be 12v.  If it's less it might be affecting the speed.

Also, check to see what each chip is running at, anything abnormally low?  they are spec'd to run at 333 per chip on low/std speed.

everthing should also be connected via ethernet, no wireless.

First of all many props and thanks to Canary!

I'm running 1 cube and 2 blades ( 1 oc to 13 ) off a HX850.
I love these power supply's, got 2 more that have been on 24/7 over 8 months now pulling 750 watts continuous.
And a $350 electric bill to go along with it. ::)
wow!! your rate must be insanely high to pay that much for less than 750 watts continuous... holy cow!!

-edit  I'm not complaining about my bill then...

That's 750 each x 3 + 2 600 watt Thermatakes @ .13 cents a Kwh
That long at 90% load is impressive to me. These thermaltake's have surprised me, they have ran over a year and a half at 450 watts continuous each.

Those receiving cubes should take apart your cube and reassemble it carefully making sure all the screws are tight and the boards all line up within the grooves inside the cube.

I initially ran slush's proxy on a GPU mining rig but it only let half or less of the cube hash, I had lots of chips sit at 000. Moved proxy to another PC on same switch it works fine.

What was the difference in PCs? OS?  CPU Load?

I ask because I am trying to figure out how to get my cubes up and running at full speed.

Thanks

The GPU rig is win 7 and has virtually no CPU load, that's why I though it might work.

The other is my ASCI control computer is an Intel Atom, Win 7 connected to multiple hubs and running the proxy (2 blades and 1 cube) and BFGminer (36 BE's). It runs 10 - 20% CPU load.

Im all 10/100 and cheap switches and router, good cable connection...

Every time I try to "optimize" my stuff it tends to complicate things and I usually have to start over, trying to keep it as simple as I can has been my solution.
A big, loud, hot, expensive solution. On the bright side my natural gas bill is very low for this time of year.

Good luck my friend, may the IT /ASCI gods look kindly upon you.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread.  I've had the same problem at work with blades and cubes.  They go sick after a couple minutes and reset.  Brought the cubes home and they are rock solid, even though one has two boards with 8 chips each 'x' out.  I'm going to have my IT guy take a serious look at our rounter/network settings to make sure AV or filters aren't blocking things.

I had similar issues... initially I was attempting to run the proxy off of a rpi as I have had in the past, but proxy was not happy no matter how many I had running - and it was resulting in lower hash rates.

After going through numerous troubleshooting steps, I moved the proxy (temporarily) to a macbook pro, just to test, and it had full hash rate... I have ultimately moved them to another machine entirely which has higher processing & memory power, my feeling was that it was probably memory related.

The processor load wasn't great but didn't seem too extreme on the rpi based on the 'uptime' commands I had ran, it was running at about .50-.60 on avg if I am remembering correctly, with just the proxy running. But it could have been processing power issues as well or a combination of both.

I didn't troubleshoot much further once I got them stable on another machine.  ;D

Got my cube today  ;D

Hashing nicely at stock clocks 32.5 Ghs/s  8) All chips show "0".  I guess I got one of the good ones, thanks Canary!

Running it with a Silverstone 850w btw.

I tried an Antec 650w at first, the miner would turn on initially but then shut down. Switching to my better PSU fixed it.

Like others reported the cards were out of their grooves in the case, easy fix, just pop the back cover off and slide the whole thing out, align the cards into the grooves. I didn't have any loose heatsink screws. The outer casing was scratched in a few places, but nothing I'm too worried about.

*edit   holding 37.942 gh/s at OC, Slush pool and Minectrl show it higher at 41-43 gh/s

Due to my general noobishment I first got it going with miner-proxy to slush's poolbut now have it running on a RasPi with minepeon ~31GH/s on Low (need to upgrade PS to keep it running on High)

what is the PC IP address and netmask?  if your are say 192.168.0.3 and netmask 255.255.255.0 you will not see anything on 192.168.1.x.

open a CMD window and type ipconfig to get this info copy and paste it here if you need help.

set your computer to the same network address range like 192.168.1.99 then connect and change it to an ip address that is usable on your network range.

I assume your on windows:

first, figure out what your current network range is. open a dos prompt (start / type "cmd" press enter).
in black dos prompt window

"ipconfig /all"

look for line showing 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x that is your current ip range.
line after it should show 255.255.255.0
then default gateway 192.168.x.1 or 10.x.x.1

write down the last two lines as we will need them later.

lets assume it showed 192.168.0.105 (most routers default to 192.168.0.x range or 10.x.x.x range)

that means your router is handing out addresses above .100 and your network is 192.168.0.x (the x is for workstation)

find an empty address below 100 to use.

try "ping 192.168.0.50"

if you see "reply from " that address is in use, try another until you find one that does not receive "reply form". it may say "ping timed out" or "host not reachable".

now go to control panel / network sharing

click "change adapter settings"

in the listing select the adapter that is in use. (it will not be greyed out).

right-click, click "properties".

scroll down in the list to "internet protocol version 4"

click "properties"

in the top box, select "Use the following ip address" fill in 192.168.1.99"

for the subnet enter 255.255.255.0

then click "Ok" then "close"

now try the "192.168.1.254:8000"

set the ip address to the number you found open for example 192.168.0.50
set the subnet and gateway to the setting you wrote down from above.

update it.

now to return your computer back to its settings.

in the listing select the adapter that is in use. (it will not be greyed out).

right-click, click "properties".

scroll down in the list to "internet protocol version 4"

click "properties"

in the top box, select "Obtain an address automatically "

click "OK" then "Close"

you  should now be able to use the new address you assigned to the cube.

Had to cycle power a few times, but finally, cube is up and running at a steady 32 GH/s on low clock speed.

Initially, upon power up, cube would turn on but about three seconds later, I hear a click and everything turns off. Cycling the power a few times seems to have done the trick.

Why does my cube and another blade that I have keep restarting itself? Driving me mad! :/

How long have you had the blade? Did/does it run without restarting by itself?

What are your power supplies?

Just guessing, but it sounds like the cube may be drawing too much power once it gets to full hash and tripping the breaker? It does take a while to reach full power/hash.

if both on same PSU, then likely PSU is the source of your issue.
if both not on same PSU, then your network is the source of an issue all the way up to the host running your proxy.

Was the USB board that could hold rows and rows of USB BEs called a cube?

The V3 Cube photo (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/dogiee/media/2013-11-29164606_zps79c06f50.jpg.html) seems to show six Blades which one would think could produce 63GH/s.  Are those half size Blades of a new design?  If the V3 Cube holds 6 V2 blades, how can it sell for .85btc when a single Blade sells for .38btc?  Or does the V3 Cube come unpopulated?

Thanks Canary, my Blade has been running A-OK.

soy

the 49 port board was just a hub.

They are essentially six half blades with a main board providing power and communications. So unlike standard blades, only 1 ethernet connection is needed for the six half blades. In fact another name for this thing might be "Half Baked" or "Lemon Cube" since one reseller has had to gut parts from his stock to fix customers and another has had to assemble a team of "fixers" to pull every cube he receives apart and fix them and a good portion of the ones that have been corrected in the field won't run high clock.

Hard to justify at these prices now when comparing these to the antminer and other hardware being released.  Do you know if Ascicminer will be reducing the pricing or if they plan on releasing a faster "V2" model?

Some Prices were as low as .75 BTC but I don't know if the price fluctuation of BTC is effecting the cube price variation.  Either way, there is no way to get a ROI at current prices. I like the cubes and hope later on we see a price reduction or an upgraded faster model.

The dimension for the box holding 8 cubes is 16x16x16.  FedEx is pretty lenient with dimensions and weight on the label... They will weigh the box anyways and bill you correct amount regardless.

I've tested/tightened a good number of cubes today...
It appears that friedcat has done a much better job with this batch as I've yet to find a single dead chip...
Still need to tighten the screws (shipping vibration) but it appears the mini blades have been tested for being operational.

That's good news.

I still intend to buy one btw.  Just waiting for my bi-weekly group share payout to come in..

I know.  I'm on the east coast.  My rigs will love the sub zero temperature coming up.  The rest of the house won't though, or the occupants.

I bet a lot of miners are just bringing in cold air from the outside allowing it to hit the heatsinks/fans to cool off miners.  Talk about OC heaven!!

Arrived today. Thanks. I did the recommended tear-down/reassemble. A couple of the cards were slightly out of the grooves as could be expected from shipping. Only a few of the heat sink  screws needed an eighth of turn or less to tighten. Hashing away at 38+Ghs on high clock no problem. Glad I didn't pay the extra premium some are asking for verified 38 Ghs!

Thanks again!

Tom

You're welcome!!  I check each Cube  to make sure nothing is lose and that there are no dead chips before shipping.
Re-seating and checking screws after receiving it is still a very good idea due to vibrations during shipping causing lose screws.

13% of Cube inventory remains as of this moment.

I'm liking my first one.  It's chugging away at 38 GH/s, and the air coming out of it is barely warm.  It apparently likes the cold air I'm blowing in from outside. :)

I'd get a 2nd one but I'm a little short on BTC atm. :(

I appreciate the service you provide. I've ordered a few times now, and know you provide outstanding service. However, I am a bit disappointed in the price dropping so rapidly over the last couple weeks.

I am sure you can understand the disappointment of having the price drop only a couple days after an order. It's happened to me twice now and I'm starting to feel like a fool. Could you please give us some guidance on how often prices drop or maybe what might trigger price drops in the future? For example, are they directly tied to difficulty or is it dictated by the batch or something else altogether?

Thanks!

For example, are they directly tied to difficulty or is it dictated by the batch or something else altogether?

Thanks!

I feel ya but it's not his fault, all supply and demand. If the Antminer wasn't out, and ASICminer didn't produce so many cubes, then the price would be higher or less soft. He's just the seller, and a great one at that, but to remain competitive he needs to price at the market. Holding out for a price drop doesn't make sense because the units cover less ground now than they did a week ago. The thing to be frustrated with is that something 2 months old is seen as "obsolete". I'm tempted to buy 2 more at this price, but at this point I'm just gonna let what I own run for a while. The price is all supply and demand, finding blame is like faulting someone for the forces of gravity. The .40 BTC you spend now can potentially be used in 2 months to buy an Antminer; in the end, from the patterns thus far, the market will price these things so your timing will have only a small impact on where your final balance lands, at least in the near-term.

Yep, sorry if it sounds like I was looking for someone to blame - I'm not. Just wondering if there is something I can look for to avoid missing a price drop by a day or two. Totally agree Canary is an awesome seller and provides awesome service.

We're potentially at a turning point right now in the market as BTC has been moving sideways, regulators have been quiet, and cost of inputs has been increasing. All this points to a breakout (IMO), I don't have a crystal ball but increasing inputs alone should result in miners holding and a shortage with buyers bidding up BTC. At the .75 cost it might take a while to mine back if paid with BTC, but I have a feeling the cube will prove profitable if you translate all costs into dollars. Of course all of this depends on BTC breaking out to a new high, and I don't claim to make good predictions but it can't go sideways much longer with all this hardware action happening...

Yet, this returns us to the question "buy or mine?" If profitable mining depends on the value of BTC increasing, then we should probably just buy BTC rather than mine. Right now it appears to me that mining BTC is can only be profitable if you can resell your miners in a couple months without them loosing too much value. Of course this ignores the possibility of mining alt coins and the fact that mining is just fun :)

Let me ask you this... If you bought BTC at $100 would you have sold when it hit $200? How about $500? Most traders set an exit target and not many would hold through those new highs. I know I'd never have the discipline to buy at $100 and hold until $1,000. Mining, totally different story, less pressure to cash out, no set cost basis or urge to "lock in a gain". But with mining comes the continual draw to reinvest the mined output into new gear. All decisions have costs of different types, for me this is a hobby and while profit is certainly nice it is not my primary objective. I speculate on stocks now and then, the pressure to sell when something doubles can be rather intense, and nothing is worse than watching a winner turn into a loser. With mining it's a whole different game, much more long term and feels like a business simulation, more enjoyable and far more interesting than trading in and out, and buy and hold is booooring. Not to mention, I don't have the balls to buy BTC at $1,000, but I'll certainly mine it 24/7.

Edit: just realized we are thread jacking a group buy, lol... I have another thread about being addicted to hardware, you should check it out: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397619.0

You do ship to the EU as long as I print my own label right?

What would be better to fit in a shipping box? 3 or 4?

everything has shipped out.

I have 1 Cube that consists of boards where most of them have 1 Xed chip (per board).  also, the fuse receptacle is dirty due to having had a burned out fuse before.  probably could use a good cleaning if you know how to do that on circuit boards.  1 of the boards has no Xed chips but has a capacitor that attempted to die and has burn marks that also need to be cleaned out around the capacitor.  if you are EE enthusiast and want this cube, please pm me.
it is hashing fine using a good, 750W Corsair PSU.  however, it has no warranty and is sold as is for educational/research purposes only.
I highly recommend that a person who lives for this (circuit repairs etc...) get it and not a typical end user of a cube.
I've spent some time testing it and putting it together from different cubes/parts and have kept an eye on it for a few days now...
asking .20 plus a label

PM me first, do not send the .20 btc first. thanks

edit: I have been running it on low clock only. have not tried high and have no intentions of doing so.

Just wanted to put in some feedback in-so-far as my experience has been good and I figured I'd share it.

Ordered a cube on February 1st, pretty late at night.  Received an email the next morning letting me know my cube had been shipped.

Cube arrived Monday (today), as it was intended to.  Opened her up, had to reattach a heatsink to one blade and re-align all the blades into their slots.  Not too complicated and actually kind of fun :)

Rigged my PSU to work without a mobo - easy to find guides online.  Plugged in cube and read through a couple setup guides, followed the steps, and now I'm hashing away at just under 30ghz non-overclocked.

Thank you for the product, zero-X's as promised.  And thank you again for the prompt delivery.  First experience with a group buy and it was damn near perfect.  If only Amazon and NewEgg could be this spot on  ;D

you're welcome! it's a bummer than shipping still causes screws to get lose even after tightening everything up...

Thread Lock - that should be done at the factory. You may want to try one just to see if it makes a difference.
