Sorry for the confusion, actually the Cointelegraph article did a mistake on writing $15,000 instead of $1,500, sorry for the inconvenience.

I checked the article and one sentence caught my eyes. The guy claims that by the end of this year BTC will be something like $20K whereas ETH around $15K.
To my mind this is highly unrealistic. Look at the current ratio ETH/BTC=0.078 What could happen for it to jump nearly 10 times and go to ETH/BTC=0.75?
Not much. Unrealistic to say the least.

That was caught my attention too. We are still remember when bitcoin hit $19k back then, ETH only was $1.2k, so if ETH reached $15k as he said, bitcoin should be worth 10x times than their ATH or $200k. This prediction sounds impossible but it's not impossible in crypto.

Now, many prediction about the price of ETH is giving, some said that ETH will reach $5,000; 10,000.... but indeed, we're hard to know exactly the price of ETH in the future although it's a good coin.
As far as prediction of Alexis Ohanian, ETH reach $15,000 in the end of 2018 such ETH market cap will be $2,500 billions and it will pass Bitcoin to become No.1 of the crypto market, this is too hard to happen in this time even in the next two years.
I think Nigel Green, CEO of independent financial consulting firm deVere Group predicted the price of ETH will reach $2,500 in the end of 2018 is more realistic.

Reddit is a website with millions in traffic but still not profitable, and is now alienating its user base due to introducing weird features that users coming to it find useless.

It has received cash injections and investments only to stay afloat for a couple of years but the prediction is that the more recent investments will also fail. I wouldn't take advice from this guy, he's about to be kicked out of his own company.

$2000 is realistic, $15,000 is way too much.

I have to agree. It's impossible for ETH to reach $15k in 2018, heck we should even be glad if Bitcoin will reach $15k this year with a market that is right now.

I found out this article interesting, perhaps they bagged good amount of ETH that is why they are confident to say such speculations. But either way, BTC and ETH will bring crypto dreams into reality.

I too agree with your statement but to reach $15000 is the too much high amount with the current supply of ETH, in future, there is a possibility because the market cap is kept increasing and many new people are showing a lot of interest towards the cryptocurrency.

I doubt about this analysis especially it relationship with bitcoin. How can ethereum get to $15,000 and bitcoin  $20,000 the ratio is should have been bitcoin  $200,000 and ethereum  $15,000. But I will still be happy if ethereum get to $15,000 before December this year as I am holding it. Bitcoin will be the greatest beneficiary of any coin advance and I don't think only ethereum will be going up and bitcoin will not be going up.

We should not forget that ETH Blockchain is the most popular and usable one for new ICOs and existing projects now. But 20k$ level is too high for ETH. In my mind, it is impossible that ETH price will be highier than 0.25 of BTC price.

If someone says that bitcoin will hit $20k and Ethereum will hit $15k, then I assume they are making a mistake and they mean that Ethereum as a whole (marketcap) will be 75% of bitcoin marketcap.

I may be wrong, but a prediction like this suggests that the person doesn't know what they are talking about. $15k for one ETH and $20k for one bitcoin would mean ETHs markrtcap dwarfing bitcoin's. Given how the market often moves as a whole, if ETH took off like that and became the clear number one, I strongly suspect it would drag other coin prices up too. It doesn't seem realistic that if ETH hit $15k then bitcoin wouldn't be dragged upwards too.

Somehow I can not imagine that. I do not mind, but I do not believe it. $15,000 for one eth, really crazy.

I do not think ETH will achieve such a high price. Long before ETH can achieve the price as BTC at this time. I think they will increase to 1000k as the maximum.

I agree with your opinion guys maybe $15,000 is impossible and $2,500 is possible this year, look at the price in the market Eth price is growing every day so that is a good sign, maybe this is the year for Ethereum

If Bitcoin exceedes its all time high this year then Ethereum could follow along closely but $15,000 does seem a little disproportionate

We are not convinced with too much predictions with bitcoin and of course this is not convincing either.

I think his statement is quite reasonable, because there are many ico based blockchain ethereum at the moment and if we want to participate in ico then we must have ETH. The token ERC20 transaction must also use the gas to cover it and I think the demand for ethereum will increase which makes its price also rise.

Afaik much ICOs have been used ETH as their platform since last year, so why ETH didn't even reached $5000 or $10k? It's not reaosonable for ETH to reach $15k in the end year of this year.

That is close to 20X return from the current price, most people holding 10Ethers won't have to work again. Nothing impossible in cryptocurrency world. However, if ethereum reach 15K by the end of this year then I believe bitcoin is 10X higher than ethereum. I am confident ethereum will only reach around 2500 to 3K as others predicted too.

How many people tells that certain coin will go pump crazy up to certain speculated price? So many right? So maybe you shouldn't listen for this kind of insane prediction since 15 000 numbers is to large to came with bitcoins and maybe those figures will came if bitcoins dominance will die but this is impossible so maybe lets just stick with nearest figure so that we will not  confuse the minds of new born people's  ;D.

absolutely impossible. If the ETH is 15,000$ then the bitcoin must reach 100,000$. And in 2018, this can not happen. It is not possible to determine whether the market will go up or down in the near future. Just hope the bitcoin can reach 20k$ and ETH is 3k$ in 2018

Anything can happen in this market and you should have confidence in that as I personally believe the ETH price can totally reach $ 15,000 in the next few years and is the price that many people are hoping for wait most. I think if ETH wanted to reach this price level, ETH would need a financial group to make the price reach this price, but the ratio is only 2% because Bitcoin is still the top choice for investors.

Possible or Impossible no one knows what will be the actual price of eth within the end of this year,  this is just my own opinion, if the Lightning network will fail, I'm sure that Ethereum will surpass bitcoin if that happens

that is an outrageous prediction in my opinion, such an increase is unlikely to be achieved in the very near future, we can see in bitcoin, the step to reach that point takes a long time, the bullish trend is still not lasting long enough.

$15k is a ridiculous price prediction!

With an uncapped supply, $15k is never reachable. Maybe that Reddit co-founder has majority of his investment in ETH. Where Bitcoin itself is struggling to reach $15k, ETH is far from that threshold. $1500 would have been a more reliable prediction. Maybe he mistakenly put another 0.  ::)

With latest updates announced by Vitalik Butarin, ETH has potential to cross $1k threshold in short term and maybe can cross $2k in long term or by the end of the year which is usually a bullish period.

The other speculation of reaching 2.5k$ (by Nigel Green) sounds more believable than 15k$.Its adoption will surely cause a surge in the price, but 15k is unbelievable and illogical.
Probably he was mocking the move by reddit to accept ETH as a payment? 

I believe that Bitcoin in 2018 will cost 20,000 dollars.
But in my opinion, perhaps added an extra zero to the price of the Ethereum, because I do not believe that the Ethereum will cost $ 15,000 in 2018.

I will not call that a prediction, to me that seems to be the price that he wants for ethereum for this year, and I cannot blame him I will love to see ethereum at that price, but it's not going to happen it is simply not possible, maybe it will happen in 10 years, maybe it will happen sooner than that or maybe a little bit later than that, but to think that ethereum could reach that price in this year seems impossible to me.

ETH isn't the most hyped up altcoin this year, after EOS proved its worth with such huge pumps earlier on in the year. $15k is also just an astronomical number that is incredibly hard to hit, even in a bull market.

For his prediction to be true, I think there needs to be some kind of major trend reversal across the board for all altcoins, and also for ETH to have some kind of major positive news in this year. To me, both of these probably will not happen this year.

If this fiyata is going to reach first, btc should gain a lot of value, for example if it is 40k maybe it can reach this goal maybe eth.

He is right about the value but wrong about the time. This year is a reach, he should've said in 3-5 years instead. 15k USD this year is nowhere realistic. I wish it goes up but I don't expect that kind of rally in 6 months.

I think it is very difficult for ethereum to reach $15k when bitcoin prices reach $20k. the maximum price ETH ever penetrated is about 0.14 BTC / ETH (please CMIIW). when the BTC price is $20k, the maximum price is $2.8k - $3k, I think it will be very difficult to reach $15k.

I think it is just a funny prediction. There is no information or evidence to support this price. Although ETH has had a strong development in April, its price is still around $900. How can it goes to $15000 in few next year?

I can't believe someone will predict and announce it, this approach for me is more on hype or to hype the price and not that really to reach $15,000 it is possible but i don't see that a big coin will make more x15 this year. Its a numbers game and if we will compute its was to big and not so unreal. X2-x5 is even more possible for me this year but not that much high.

I'm amused by how simplistic minds invest in advanced technology like cryptocurrencies. Nevertheless, i do believe that Ethereum is truly the future and will it will surely increase in value. All it take now is time. Buy Ethereum while you still can.

This  predicted price level seems very high to be reached within this year so take this forecast with a pinch of salt. I think $5000 target in 2018 may be more realistic.

It would be great if this comes out to be true, but I'm not buying it because even though our market is very unpredictable it's not realistic that eth would reach that high. $1500 or slightly higher can become true.

Everyone is able to create their own opinion regarding the future price of any coin.

The Altcoins prices are correlated to BTC price. The prediction of Reddit co-founder is a bit irrealistic. especially when you consider the global cryptocurrencies marketcap. That prediction should be for 2020.

If he is the one of the Big whales that will pump up Ethereum this year then the possibility of this ambitious prediction will might become possible but he did not state on how it will happen to reach that huge value so therefore saying this $15,000 mark will just be like a hearsay word if there is no specific details on how it will going to work,in fact that if the ICO ban advertising will fully take effect on June for sure the demand for Ethereum will going to reduce too.

But for some cases, altcoin can be better than bitcoin because as we know, altcoin demand getting greater from time to time.
Let's compare ETH value for example with BTC when it has same ratio with ETH.

These two can be in rivalry in terms of popularity in the futue as their repective price will deeply influence the market with respect to trading. That's right altcoins demand became greater but not in general, because there were some that doesn't pump its price due to lower demand. Right now ethereum has increased its value due to more trading of eth contract tokens, but it doesn't mean we'll be expecting more for it and definitely the value of eth is always in contrast with the value of bitcoin itself.

I don't doubt Ethereum will be higher and create new price history at the end of the year but I think he's too optimistic to say $ 15k this year
My speculation for Ethereum price is 4 - 5k and maybe $ 15K can be achieved in the next few years

i dont think eth can reach that price this year but i am sure ETH will reach at least $5000 by the end of this year. base on market movement this market looked like last year market. and maybe we also will see BTC reach its new peak at arround $50k and whole market cap could be 2 trillion - 3 trillion dollar. the reason eth will goes very high is its hybrid technologies which probably makes eth hype and faster in transaction.

That's even possible within this quarter because bitcoin has almost reached 10,000$ now. I believe that the surge of bitcoin's price is real and that we are already in the bullish trend now as bitcoin's base price is already at 9,000$.

I think that's much if Ethereum hit $15000 at the end of this year, but I supported this good news for better crypto future. Maybe, $5000 end of this year is more realistic. I hope the price movement is slow, so if there is any correction it's not deep.

He said it was an error during the interview, he wanted to say 1500$ instead of 15 000$, 15k is just too high and unrealistic for this year

Exactly, I know that ethereum is going to become a very valuable coin and it is not out of the question that he could reach that price, but to think we're going to see such a huge price it is simply illogical, also forgetting to reach that price that soon it will probably need to surpass bitcoin in market cap because if that is not the case the market cap of bitcoin will be massive.

really people are saying that is more likely to see btc at 1500$ than at 15k in 2018? you forget the fomo of december 2017? btc there gained more than 10k in just a month, in my opinion if btc crash down to 1500$ the whole crypto market will die for many years, with even more years to return to the actual level.

They will probably be a potential coin and lead the Crypto market in the near future. So I still hope and hold ETH right now. I think we should not be afraid to hold on, believe in a bright future of ETH.

While the correction is made, its very possible ETH will touch $1,500 this year end, the adoption is high and on the rise.

I do not see realistic elements to think that a price of such magnitude could be reached by ethereum this year, and perhaps never. In fact, I remember that few months ago The Wall Street Journal dared to predict that ethereum would reach the price of $17,000 in 2020, but without presenting the bases of that calculation.

Really? Wow that's great. I think if that happens it will greatly impact once on the state of the cryptocurrency world. Slowly the bitcoin will begin to get knocked out, and that is driving the price of another altcoin is ethereum. Ethereum for me is a potential coin but I don't think the price of the ethereum become $15,000 this year 2018.
Maybe the highest price of the bitcoin become $5000 for this year 2018 but in the future $15,000 is possible to happen..

i guess that btc mots likely will not come back this year at 20,000 usd level, so ethereum too will not come back to 1400 usd max level it was. but its just my thoughts, i wanna be wrong, really wanna, but im not optimistic about that:/ hope guys who are waiting for big btc rise will be right, not me :)

Do not believe this stuff. The maximum that Etherum can reach this year (in my opinion sure) is 5 thousand. Of course, the chances to hit this target are not very high but Ethereum will gain a lot.

You can believe or not believe. But 1 years ago BTC was $700 and at the EoY it was $20k already. Is it true? And why ETH can't be $15k? Some analysts predict BTC price near $100k by the end of the year. That's why ETH can be much more expensive as now

I also think that 15k dollars was a bit of exaggeration. He has overestimated Ethereum a lot or maybe he is having very high and unrealistic hopes from bitcoin. The reason why I am mentioning about bitcoin is that Ethereum depends on it for making progress. Besides, Ethereum lacks volatility or much better is today that it is very slow in gaining as well as losing value.

I honestly think that ETH is more flexible than Bitcoin. The rivalry between this two is very interesting and keep users think if altcoins will definitely conquer the charts some day.
Though I think that bitcoins are way far from ETH, possibilities of gaining popularity in a short period of time is very high.
I do believe that ETH can reach 1,500 USD and as the king of cryptos, Bitcoins can actually achieve 20k USD again or higher in my opinion. It is very feasible.

I think ethereum can reach $1500 to $2000 before the year end and it is more realistic than the forecasted price earlier which later corrected. As of now, ethereum is slowly inching up to higher price level but some price corrections are still expected to hamper its growth. Positive development on ethereum will help boost its price in coming days ahead.

But in my opinion, ETH can not reach this price. Because there are so many altcoins on the market every day, we say all the coins on the CMC, now there are over 1500 coins in existence, not to mention the other coins are in the ICO period. So they took the market share of ETH and BTC.

After the correction of the article, the prediction seems to be more reasonable. 15k $ was a completely unrealistic forecast. Probably no one will be surprised how the eth will reach $ 1,500 this year. And maybe more.

If more people will advertise ETH and more site are accepting ETH to upgrade their membership on their apps then perhaps more people will be encourage to use ETH and to make things better.

This is price shilling, nothing more! i am also bullish about ETH in a long term, but I can't say exact price. My strategy is accumulating ETH amount and wait for a certain period of time .

We've got on the bulls side people like McAfee giving crazy predictions of millions, and on the other side of the bears we've got dinosaurs like Warren Buffet who insists that Bitcoin will burst and become zero.

Everyone exaggerates, so they can make a headline and gain fame. What else is new? Ethereum of course will gain more prominence and you'll see the same experts all lay claim to crazy prices.

It sounds very difficult but I do not think that too happens in the near future, I think it will take 1 or 2 more years we will see it maybe after the bitcoin price really goes to the moon reaching $100k

well, touching one thousand and a half is not a big deal, it would mean that it is gonna touch it's all time high again, and i am more than confident about it, it is obvious that it will happen.

Man, Ethereum will once cost 15 thousand but many years will pass before this great event. For now, the hope that I have is the coin that is 2 thousand. It can become the reality close to the winter of 2018 (I mean, December).

 I don’t want to disagree to a very positive attitude like this. I don’t know how he come up with this idea but somehow it adds hope to all.

But who is making those predictions? I understand I saw how big the growth of bitcoin and all the market was, but it's ridiculous to expect that we are going to see such a growth in consecutive years, there is simply not enough interest in the market of cryptocurrencies to guarantee that we are going to see those prices that people are predicting.

it does not  seem to strange to me that ethereum  will reach 1500$ during 2018, it did it already during january so why it can't happen again? in my opinion at the moment is the best coin in the top 10 so it deserves it. naturally a ethereum pump can't come out of nowhere, we need some good news and new investor to push the price up. i will not be surprised if it reaches 2000$ during this winter.

I believe that it can definitely happen. Ethereum is the cryptocurrency with a huge market capitalization. Many people believe in its power, and they will buy it. therefore, ETH can reach 1,5 thousand in 2018.

it's possible for ethereum for reaching $1500 this year because, in the last time of the highest price for ethereum, we can see that the ethereum has a good chance to increase more than the highest price. but unfortunately, ethereum depends on bitcoin price and after bitcoin get down too deep, ethereum getting down too but in the future, ethereum price will increase more and more. just be patient to wait for the price is getting high and still keep your ethereum is the best thing that you can do.

Who is this guy that he thinks he will know the price in 6 months? The only thing I can agree to is that the ratio between Bitcoin and Ethereum is going to become much thinner, but impossible to tell any dates or months. Just look around, people are arguing if we will see the bullrun next month or anotger dip, one that might go down to 5k. If there is so little certainty what one can expect next month, how would anyone be in a position to make a precise prediction a half year down the line?

when dominance of bitcoin start to go lower and first signals of bullish trend comes, ethereum will be probably the first altcoin that is going to be pumped. because ethereum is still a very unique and the strongest altcoin in the crypto market.

All scenarios are possible. It could be $1,500 or $150. But ETH provides an ERC20 technology that many other altcoins use. That said, ETH can reach the number ~ $1500. Like XRP, almost a king of altcoin, but the current price of XRP makes many people have to sell the house.

The small contracts Etherium has taken up promises to increase the value of Ether and yes Ether value is expected to reach minimum $1000 by end of 2018. There was a correction in between May and this caused the value stay at the low level. The team said yes the value would go down due to the technical correction taken upon. This has got over and as like other altcoins, ETH remains to the low level. Bitcoin is recovering and other coins as well.

I think this is very possible. Last year eth had reached $1500, anyway,all we can do is just forecasting, but true or wrong, let us see in the end of the year.

I think 1500 dollar is normal guess for ethereum, if market can return to normal little, it can rise very fastly and can pass 1000 dollar. And if we see good bull run, we can see ethereum at 1500-2k dollar.
