Title: bitcoin/litecoin
Post by: Chream on November 28, 2013, 03:02:54 PM
Hi!
What is the general feel around litecoin. Its currently ~40$ and still increasing. I've been waiting for the new KNCminer release but they priced it waaay to high for my investment capabilities. I've also heard rumours of a litecoin asic, but im still sceptical. But then again so were a lot of people after so many borderline scams out there..

first post! :)

If litecoin would get the same adoption as Bitcoin, it should be priced 1/4 of the BTC value, due to the max supply which is 4 times as large. So from that perspective Litecoin currently is hugely undervalued. The question no one can truly answer is, will litecoin get adopted/attention like bitcoin? Scrypt asic miners are coming, not any time soon as far as I know. Litecoin is in the GPU mining rig stage, like Bitcoin half a year ago.

As reflected in the recent price surge, the general feel around litecoin has been positively increasing the recent period. Like any other stock, the price, especially the LTC/BTC-pair, represents the general feeling, which seems to be more positive the recent period.

My sense is litecoin will eventually only ever trade at a discount to. 25% of btc which is the fair value

Think mainstream adoption will largely favour btc over ltc, could be off here

I think litecoin will surprise everyone at some point.  I can't say when this will happen but there is so many people that have destain for ltc and I suspect they will eat crow and see that ltc has more to offer then just being a back up copycat to btc.

Litecoin can reach 100$, but i think it will never be 25% of bitcoin. The general feel around litecoin is that it's only a BTC clone.
Just my 0,02$ :)

At the moment, I would have to agree.

LTC has to go a long ways before it is recognized as heavily as BTC.

True, but the adoption level at this moment is completely different.
There is not many things / services you can buy with LTC, except for gambling.

For the general public, they may have heard of bitcoin from news.
They may find it interesting, or laugh at it. But, at least, they are aware of such thing.

On the contrary, they may have never heard of litecoin, or they may just consider it as "ahh, another bitcoin-like stuff".

The CEO of BTCChina and the developer of litecoin are brothers. Imagine the impact on the value of litecoins if they get traded in China.

So, if Litecoin isn't the answer, what is the next best thing ti Bitcoin right now that still has potential?

There isn't any alt coin with true potential. (except nmc that actually has a purpose)
A lot of coins that claim that , but in reality they are just a bunch of clones.
And I don't see any at the horizon.

I hear you. What are your thoughts on Middlecoin script pool where they mine the most profitable updating every 10 minutes and is automatically exchanged into Bitcoins? Anyone have success with this?

Litecoin is great right now because you can mine it with GPUs, so anyone can easily hop in!

I plan on mining some Litecoins, waiting for the exchange rate to BTC to go up, and then trading for some BTC, an keeping some LTC to stay diversified.

I am planning on buying some share on an ASIC and maybe I will actually trade some BTC for LTC, as I think the gap will shrink closer to that 25% level.
