In September, the 25th and 26th 2018 the Blockchain Game Summit will take place at the Musée des Confluences in Lyon. This summit will gather in one place both video game and blockchain actors. Market leaders like Ubisoft will meet there to lead the way for the future of video games.

A total of thirty+ conferences and ICO pitches from the top-notch companies in blockchain and video games will be presented over the two days. But the Blockchain Game Summit is not only designed to inspire but to experiment as well! Panel discussions and workshops will thus be proposed to the participants who wish to deepen their understanding of blockchain or game design. During the two days, attendees will enjoy playtests on our partners stands in the main hall. To close the day in style, you will be invited, if you wish it, to visit the permanent exhibition of the Confluences Museum, which opens its doors for us from 16h to 18h.

A vibrant economy within the Assassin's Creed franchise, where you can trade in markets within the virtual world and where you can use items bought from previous games, will add a lot of value to the franchise. This will even add value to the Far Cry franchise, where you can buy better add-ons for your weapons with Crypto currencies.  8)

The entrance fee for the Summit is a bit pricy and I think this might be a barrier to entry for the young and new entrepreneurs out there.   :-\

It's a bit steep for a new conference like this indeed, but could be worth it, depending on which publishers you get to meet there.
Clearly it's targeted at people who already work in the industry, so it'll definitely be a good place to get more business contacts.

This event is going to be awesome.

They have been planning the event from quite some time now. The effort being put into should make it worth while visiting the event.

These guys should invite the people from Augmentors and V. Lingham and some more investors to talk about their project and how Blockchain technology helped them to achieve success with that game.  ;)

The idea to combine gaming industry with blockchain sounds very cool. I especially enjoyed watching this video on the matter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywvTIM_eOVI. The author says that we shouldn't be using blockchain in gaming industry solely for the purpose of monetizing it and essentially making it an interactive version of crypto trading. Blockchain can be implemented anywhere, where chronology and specifics of changes with any type of data is crucial. I loved an example he provided, that blockchain could be used in RPG for providing a history of weapon's ownership and making its level higher due to the real battles it was used in.
This Summit seems to be a serious platform for people to exchange thoughts and form partnerships. I hope some not monetization-oriented projects will be present there as well.

I saw the video and i cudnt agree more with what you just said pal. I also believe it has much more potential than just a monetary system. To understand and unlock these potential aspects, we need to combine both the blockchain devs and the video game devs. Either one of them lacks experience and knowledge but together that could be something else.

I loved that video and the guy really does a great job of explaining everything in simple terms. Blockchain and gaming for me are like a match made in heaven but right now the cryptogaming industry is really lacking good, playable and fun games... there's a bunch of games that are kinda alright, like 0xUniverse, but IMO they still focus too much on the collectables aspect instead of the gaming side. At the end of the day, games are games, and if they're not fun to play, have good features and a stable storyline they just get boring! I don't want to be breeding and trading cryptokitties for life haha

Interesting comments, I heard many people talking about this at the Gamescom last week. Fantastic - games are on the blockchain but where is the game?
That said some guys are doing really good stuff

I agree to an extent, trading online cards on the blockchain might not be that fun. I think we're at the "Pong" stage at the moment and games will get better as time goes on.

Soon I hope to start playing only blockchain-based games; I think there will be enough of them out, soon. It makes my gaming accomplishments feel more real

right? also doesn't it feel like you're more in control of the game knowing that you actually own the assets and can do with them whatever you want, and that you have a cryptogaming community that is solid?. I recently joined a bunch of cryptogaming groups on telegram and they're all so nice and welcoming, whereas when I play on fortnite or pubg its only people insulting each other haha

I agree with both of you. It would be much more life like in sense of owning things.. as a matter of fact.. even better in terms of asset owning like limited ones.
for example imagine this.. owning a car in an online multiplayer game something like Need For Speed. All the modifications and car models can range from legendary to common and limited. even the game devs themselves cannot introduce an inflation in the assets.


On the point of community, yeah trust me when i say i have been to the very top and back in competitive scene, kids are keyboard warriors. Its their way of letting steam away. No one should take it serious.
At this point blockchain gaming is new and hasnt penetrated deep into the gaming scene. Thats what our objective is with such initiatives.

yeah and imagine you were able to take your car from Need for Speed and take it to another different game like GTA for example... cause blockchain actually allows interoperability of games, how cool would that be?!

Yes indeed the assets can be crossed over. that would be super nice.

It was basically the first blockchain game produced by an established development studio, so it's been out longer and is more playable than others.
