Some of you have probably heard of Goldentowns, or even signed up to play, but been scammed out of your promised rewards because the price of BTC shot through the roof. If you haven't heard of the game, it is an economical, political, and war simulation skill game akin to Age of Empires. You can actually earn and exchange the in game currency, gold, for cash and/or bitcoins. Pretty cool, eh?

While you won't immediately be in a position to earn enough gold to reap the rewards, with a fair bit of play you can get to a point where you can sell it, and I'll supplement you with BTC rewards for hitting certain levels. All you have to do is sign up and play, I'm asking for nothing in return other than that :-). I'm offering a promotion scheme that is much lower than what others were offering, but I am putting myself in a position to guarantee that players are paid for their efforts.  I'm not interested in scamming you, but I am interested in seeing whether or not a concentrated effort on this game will get me to a point of probability.  I'm inclined to think that this game may just be one giant scam/time suck, but I'm willing to give it a go in the name of science, and see if my best efforts can't nudge me into a position with earning power.

I've modeled the promotion scheme based on a couple other promotions that I have seen on the forum and is as follows:

• REACH LEVEL 2 - This won't take long, no more than a couple days, and I will pay you .0001 BTC once you get to that point.
• REACH LEVEL 5- This is going to take a bit longer, and will require you to have upgraded buildings and begun production on a larger scale. For this I will pay you .0005 BTC
• REACH LEVEL 10- This will take a considerable amount of time, but you will be able to sell your own goods for gold at this point. For this I will pay you .0015 BTC
• REACH LEVEL 25 - I will pay you .004 BTC
• REACH LEVEL 50 - I will pay you .025 BTC
• REACH LEVEL 100 - I will pay you .075 BTC

The sum of all incentives to this point is .1021 BTC, which is over $100 at current prices! Should the price of BTC fall, I will adjust the rewards accordingly to ensure you are getting a fair sum for your time spent in the game. I will not adjust the reward prices should the price of BTC continue to rise :-).

BUT WE'RE NOT DONE YET...

• REACH 30% HAPPINESS - Happiness is very important in terms of your city's prosperity! Reach this point and I'll give you an additional .0005 BTC
• REACH 50% HAPPINESS - For this I will pay you .0075 BTC
• REACH 100% HAPPINESS - Earn .025 BTC

Sum of all extra bonuses is .033 BTC which brings the grand total to .1351 BTC which is currently around $150!!

The game only takes a few minutes of attention every day after you've gotten past the first stages. What the guarantee that you will not scam ?

Just gotta trust me for the time being.  Once you start seeing the first folks collect their reward, I hope you'll see that I can be trusted :-). I was scammed in one of the earlier threads, and that's the reason I wanted to do this.  I set the rewards lower than the others specifically so I wouldn't have any issue paying out. 

This seems more legit compared to $2000 payout :P

I'd seriously considering offering an escrow on this if I was you. Putting the coin in escrow now will negate any rise in the price of BTC for the OP. Chances are no one will last the course to level 100 anyway but if they did the cheapest level 100 referral in the games is for sale at 3250EUR, so OP has plenty of reason to offer this incentive.

I already been scammed once, so I will not restart my town after all the fatigues I did to reach lvl 7 again.

As someone who fell for a previous "BTC for levels" GoldenTowns offer, you should note that this guy is pledging $5 equiv. for reaching level 5. I've been playing for about a week, checking in three or four times a day - there's a lot of waiting for shit - and I've only just broken level 3. "Working" for this guy is like working for a wage of a dollar an hour.

If you think about it who on earth would pay over 1K for some stupid resources?

Just re-read the OP and realised I was mistaken here; you're being paid the equivalent of 50 cents for a few hours' work. Unless you expect your 0.0005 BTC to rise in value by several thousand percent, I really can't see why you'd bother playing this game to earn BTC from this guy.

Yo, bro!  What crawled up your butt and died??  If you think what I am offering is too little, then you are more than welcome to create your own promotion scheme and give away thousands of bitcoin for all I care.  Yes, what I offer for reaching level three is minuscule in the grand scheme of things, and there is a specific purpose for that.  I will not begin to see any return on the investment I make for quite some time, and the payment structure is tiered so that it incentivizes reaching the highest level you possibly can.  No, I'm not gonna pay you a big gigantic sum for reaching level three as that would ultimately incentivize playing up unto that point and then quitting because that sort of reward structure would create diminishing returns for the individual playing. 

The way I've set things up rewards the user more for going further in the game.  No, I'm not going to offer you a salary for investing a few minutes of your time each day, and the ultimate goal here is to put yourself in a position which will allow for you to profit from the game itself and not just the rewards that I will dole out.

Sorry if I came off as just being mean for the sake of it; that wasn't my intention. I just don't like to see people wasting their time.

I don't think you're some kind of evil extortionist or scam artist, I just didn't want people to fall into the trap of seeing a level-based rewards system and thinking "awesome, I can just grind for a few hours a day and make $$$". Getting to level 10, at which point you'll have earned approximately two dollars, takes hours of clicking, and the game is deliberately excruciatingly slowly paced - unless you put real money into playing, you're looking at a cycle of giving orders, doing something else for three hours, then making sure you come back to give more orders exactly two hours later for like six weeks to make two bucks.

Once again, I'm sure you will deliver on your pledges, and I'm not even saying that you need to increase them. I'm just trying to warn people who see this as an opportunity for easy money that they'll be "working" for maybe 5 cents an hour. In my opinion, it's not worth it.

Like I said in my last post, if you're just interested in the game and want to play, then go ahead, I'm not stopping you. I wouldn't want to see you waste your time persevering with this frankly montonous game for six weeks to earn $2, if you're not actually enjoying it, is all.

Thanks for the clarification, dude, and I apologize for jumping on your case. I just was having trouble wrapping my mind around someone complaining about the fact that I'm giving away money at all.  

I totally agree with you, though, and it is certainly a tough grind for very little return if you are just looking at it in terms of my rewards.  I haven't been playing the game long enough to realize any profits, but I feel like it may be possible if you build up a solid group of active referral players, and the reward will ultimately come second to what could possibly be made in the game.

I haven't really come up with a solid plan yet, but looking at the market for referral accounts I do see that some are selling for quite a high price, and I see this as a potential avenue for profit in the game.  If I were to go down the route of selling referrals (and this wouldn't happen for quite some time) I would definitely give some kickback to the players who made that possible.  

So...what I am trying to say is this: stick around, cause the best may be yet to come :-)

yo!  sorry, I missed your message earlier.  My username in the game is cpN0Dcp.  I am just about to level four, and was participating in another thread on the boards which ended up being a scam.  I'm not too upset over that, as I knew it would be a longshot to get all of what was promised, but at the same time I wanted to create something that is sustainable and will provide bonuses for players reaching certain milestones without fear of being scammed.

It's online.  No investments are needed, although there is an invest option.  It's a very slow game, you just need to invest a few minutes a day, everyday, for a long time, and you'll start seeing money build up overtime.
