Title: Apparently something worse than 'worst case' has happened at MtGox...
Post by: kloinko1n on August 07, 2011, 03:15:35 PM
...becasue if you want to fund your account through Euro Bank Transfer, it says:

"Euro deposits are currently offline until Friday August 5th 2011 in worst case."

It's now August 7th 2011 and the message is still there.  ???

Tradehill too. They said SEPA transfers would be back early this week. They're still not back.

It's good to know the phrase when it rains it pours still works.

Why is everyone freaking out? It is not like your money is lost, they have said countless time they are having issues with banks.  As far as tradehill is concerned they still will send you a check last I saw. (I do not do Gox after reading about the "incident")

I haven't heard anything about the whole sending checks thing, only for Dwolla. But even if it's true, it costs around $80 to cash out an international check here in Sweden...
I'm "freaking out" because I need this money. Now.

no bank wants to get near this.  i can't say as i blame them.  bitcoin is 'shady' in the eyes of banks.  it draws fraudsters and money launderers like a fly to honey.  they just don't have a firm sense of their liabilities and risks; they don't know how to price their services.

Exactly. Why is this so hard to understand?

What makes you think we don't understand? I understand completely. What I don't understand, however, is why Tradehill and Mt. Gox make promises that they can't keep, and don't even keep us updated. We were told that SEPA transfers would be back no later than the 5th of August, and I planned accordingly. But now it's the 7th, and SEPA is still disabled and we haven't heard anything from Mt. Gox or Tradehill. And paying $45 for a wire transfer isn't exactly ideal.

I'll try Intersango, since people here are recommending it.

They should use a better grade of copywriter, or simply resort to legalese ("it was alleged by one or more banks we consulted that...")

Well, SEPA is back on Tradehill, but not Mt. Gox.

Although if you want to sell BTC for EUR on Tradehill, you'll most likely get horrible prices unless you're patient...

no, unfortunately the rioters aren't going after the banksters or politicians, they are looting small family owned businesses instead.   ::)

Imagine that happening here: Atlanta, Detroit, LA, to name the main...

The looting riot chant may be, "I'm mad as hell at the banks for getting us into this mess, and I'm (along with my hooded friends, otherwise it may be considered stealing) not goin' to take it anymore, so that's why we're looting (again, not stealing) all the Mom & Pop shops, starting with Bob's Name Brand Hip Hop Supply before taking a break at R'phael's Deli."
