Title: Does scarcity matter?
Post by: revans on November 29, 2013, 04:58:14 PM
Does scarcity matter when every week a new cryptocurrency seems to launch? Litecoin, which is accepted in even fewer places as currency than Bitcoin is soaring with a market cap now exceeding 1 billion USD. A Litecoin can serve exactly the same function as a Bitcoin, and in some cases do so better.

A finite predefined cap matters, the actual number of units doesn't. Divisibility matters only insofar as the smallest possible amount (Satoshi) is small enough to buy the cheapest thing you are reasonably likely to want to buy.
