Title: Help! A payment is not processing on the network! Have I lost that money?
Post by: darkshadowgirl on November 29, 2013, 07:18:33 PM
Hello,

I tried to make a Bitpay payment. I copied the address out of the invoice and pasted it into Multibit. It has been over three hours and it still has only been seen by one peer and is not showing up in blockchain.info! I sent a test payment right afterwards to another wallet and that one went though.

Here is the address I sent it too

1KCqAiTczFe3e1Lr3j9dVN9r3mEYrJ8RDy

Here are screen shots from Multibit:

Wtf. I just sent a test payment of .10 just now to that same Bitpay address and that went through immediately!

What can I do??
What is going on has anyone seen this before?

You have to wait.
Transactions are not instant.

You said:

but I do not see a 0.10 transaction into https://blockchain.info/address/1KCqAiTczFe3e1Lr3j9dVN9r3mEYrJ8RDy

Please post the transaction ID of this 0.10 BTC transfer also.

I think we can figure this out with the two transaction IDs

Wait for some more time.

Recent days show more delay if you transact with .0001 fee than .0005 fee.

In case you do not know, transaction IDs look like this, a very long string of random looking stuff:

It is that .10  in there. https://blockchain.info/tx/eca6311fafa1f31f0388195f959fa4d934d99d9cd717f1327f916cff4934a0c9

Ok i think I found the transaction ID for the first payment:

It says "transaction not found"  ???

What!  :(  :( But every other transaction has been instant. Why would one go into limbo?

In this transaction you sent 0.00018757 BTC to 1KCqAiTczFe3e1Lr3j9dVN9r3mEYrJ8RDy, there was a 0.0001 BTC fee so only 0.00008757 BTC arrived.  The 10.99981243 BTC is your change which was sent back to your wallet to the Bitcoin address 14KQDNpy9ZHsc7WqUdNFQTSs6vVVkTfCLu

Yep, this transaction has not yet been transmitted out of your client.

Perhaps you have a connection issue.  Try to reconnect your client (turn off and back on?)

Calm down, they will be back.  You are reloading all transactions.

Once everything is back up to date, if the transaction is gone and your balance is correct then just resend it and it will probably go right out (assuming you are connected).

Let's wait a bit.  BTW how many peers are you connected to now?  I think it should be more than one.

Well I have calmed down a bit as checking the balances of the two addresses in that wallet on blockchain.info show the correct balance.  But the Multibit client is all WACKED.

I am thinking of just sweeping those two address into another wallet. Something has got to be wrong with this multibit wallet!

If the transaction wasn't sent with a miner's fee, it'll take a really long time for it to be added to a block.

We have never seen the transaction in question since it never got transmitted so we do not know what fee would have been added had it been transmitted.

Transaction may  take  4 day but  you can still cancelit and waite 24 hours before sending that transaction again.
You can also addin a fee before sending the tranaction.

I am not a multibit expert so I do not know how long a blockchain reset will take on multibit.  It may take a long time.  Let's give it a chance to recover from the reset and see what happens next.

Any multibit user/expert here who can tell us how long a blockchain reset will take?

No, you never lost your money.
It will either proceed, or come back

Yeah I don't think it was ever sent.  The Multibit wallet was all screwed up. When I reset the Blockchain and transactions in Multibit it lost 4 BTC from the balance and that pending transaction disappeared. BUT Blockchain.info had the full correct balance recorded in my addresses including the balance of that pending transaction! I just swept the private key for the screwed up multibit addresses and got all my money back  and in one place! Phew...

I still don't understand how Multibit screwed up so bad.  I think I need another wallet client. I have lost trust in Multibit now.

Anyone have any suggestions for a more reliable wallet client?

I use the standard bitcoin-qt and it works for me - be sure to encrypt it.  For web I use blockchain.info - be sure to use a unique very good password, for my phone I use the android bitcoin client - don't lose your phone.  While I am at it here, I use bitfinex for trading - don't trade on margin unless you really know what you are doing.

To be added to a block. Not to be relayed + show up in the wallet. The second is instant.
