Title: Help with USB 7 Block eruptor setup and cgminer
Post by: darcimer on November 30, 2013, 02:06:19 AM
The cgminer thread is 685 pages long.  While I tried to search through it, the search feature limitations and the sheer size of the thread made it impossible.

I have a 10 port Rosewill USB hub and 7 block eruptors in it.
I successfully changed the driver to WinUSB drivers using zadig and I was also able to start cgminer.   I created a .bat file, which did not ( and still does not) work.  It just opens up quick, and closes, almost imperceptibly.  I must have the command line wrong, but I was pretty sure I had it right.
If I open up cgminer.exe, I can manually enter the pool and user information, and the miner starts running.

Looking at cgminer, I noticed I was running close to 333 MHS, which is what I would expect from 1 block eruptor, not 7.  Pool also confirmed 333mhs.  I also noticed that when work is accepted, it is always from AMU 0.  Is that the ID of the hub or am I missing 6 eruptors?  I hot swapped one block eruptor to an open port on the hub, and after a few error messages, the AMU changed to AMU 1.

Then I started trying different ports, and well, just messed it all up.

Now I get:

"USB init, open device failed, err -12, you need to install a win USB driver for AMU device 5:5"
"icarus detect <5:5> failed to initialise <incorrect device?>"
"No devices detected"

I keep reading the README.txt, but it's just not sinking in.
The silabs driver kept reinstalling itself upon reboot.  And I kept changing it to WINUSB, but it's winning the battle.   I think I got rid of the bad driver, but what now?

My question is, how do I get all 7 to work?  I'm sure there's a thread devoted to this already, just need to be pointed in the right direction.  (Also, my device manager is only "seeing" 6 devices.  They all have lights lit on them, not sure what's going on there either.)

I can probably get the one to work again but what's the point of that.

Thanks

Darcie

I'm using version 3.8.3 cgminer, let me know if you need more specs.

the exact 7 port hub please.. most likely it is underpowered.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182057   5volt at 2 amp = 3 sticks max

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182174  same

i can not find one that runs more then 3 or 4 sticks.

I suggest you get a better hub.    I will find the hub thread

It was none of those, it was the 10 port hub.

But, I believe you were right.  I put in one stick at a time while the miner was running, and they appeared until I got to stick #5.  Then I got the error.  So I stuck the rest in the USB ports on my box, with a fan on them.

Not sure why someone would sell me a setup like that if it did not work as intended.

Thanks for your reply..

Darcie.
