I am kicking my ass around the block for not following up on my curiosity about digital currency when Bitcoin began to make news years ago. Alas, here I am, playing catch-up, far far too late to the party. That said, I will still pay close attention from this point on even though the golden age of mining has effectively come to an end for regular folk.
As an absolute newbie, I found the following youtube vid to be very helpful in putting things in perspective. Its now a few months out of date ($1000+ BTC was but a dream) but still relevant overall.
