Title: Maximum block size Post by: sortega on November 30, 2013, 10:55:18 AM Hello all,
I'm pretty new in this forum and this is my first topic --despite I've been reading some bits for a while-- so be easy on me. After reading about the new transaction fees policy [1] in which it is explained that blocks have a maximum size of 250000 bytes I was surprised as in other points of the wiki it is explained to be 1 MB. Are miners generating smaller blocks now? Or is it only the default client behavior? I suppose we can report the outdated parts if the limit has really changed. Well, thanks in advance [1]: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees Title: Re: Maximum block size Post by: Kluge on November 30, 2013, 11:01:14 AM For whatever reason, that wiki is very outdated in many sections, has many stubs, etc. - which is very unfortunate, because it's probably the first place a lot of people will go for info.
The max block size was increased to 1MB aeons ago. It will probably increase significantly by the time QT 1.0 is released. Title: Re: Maximum block size Post by: hiewan on November 30, 2013, 11:06:37 AM Yes, the max block size is 1 MB instead.
For example, the Block 272187 is 879 KB. http://blockchain.info/block-index/443506/000000000000000483620734d32bde5211eb715ceb3cce1b9fe4b8c6dae71263 Title: Re: Maximum block size Post by: sortega on December 26, 2013, 08:32:03 PM Thanks for your responses!
