Title: Why was my thread moved to Games and Rounds?
Post by: BadBear on November 30, 2013, 03:44:35 PM
I'm mostly making this thread to link to in redirects/answer questions quickly.

There has been a trend of people making threads, and requiring people to post within the thread to claim a giveaway or something of the sort. This is basically paying people to spam/bump/advertise your thread, and is especially prevalent in marketplace and gambling forums, and is really annoying. Stop it.

Threads like these go in Games and Rounds.

I didn't check every thread, just first page or two so I likely missed some, I doubt it though as the giveaway threads get bumped endlessly. Report it if you see it.

Or post here and complain about how it proves I have it out for you/your website/your dog, whatever ;).

A quick question:

If we stopped offering giveaways in that particular thread, can we move it back from "Games and Rounds"?

I don't see a problem with that. PM or post here with thread link. You can also repost it in gambling without it, if you want to keep the giveaway going.

I sent PM but with no response.

I am wondering why mine was moved, I am organizer and doing a Football Pool but was given an additional 0.25BTC from a sponsor also for the winner.

Per rules a "casino" can have 1 thread in gambling, which basically I do have 1 thread, I was just lucky enough someone was willing to sweeten the pot.

What? Did you even read the OP, the "one thread per site rule" isn't why I moved it. I made this thread so I wouldn't have to answer a bunch of pms about it.

Awesome. I've updated the thread accordingly. Here's the thread link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=301480.0

Thank you.

I also have a tourney thread which requires the user to post their account name to register for the tournament: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345753.0

I assumed that's the reason that it got moved so I have changed the registration rule slightly where the user will need to PM me (instead of posting) to register. Is that cool to move it back to Gambling? (The tournament is a one-time only event as we just launched Baccarat so it's within the "one thread per site rule" as well)

@BadBear: maybe it's a good idea to add this giveaway-bump-rule as a sticky to the gambling forum. We had no idea, and wouldn't have broken the rule if we would have known!

For a moment, I thought this was going to be a thread about BadBear asking why somebody moved his thread haha. How naive of me.

@BadBear: My post was also moved, but I want to keep it in the games and rounds section since I still have the promotion that caused the movement.

So my question is, It will be ok if I start another thread just with the basic information about my site?

Regards, and sorry for the inconvenience.
