Title: Bulk unloading
Post by: henryreardon on November 30, 2013, 04:42:18 PM
If one wants to bulk unload all of his BTC's for cash, say 500 for example, how can he do that in one fell swoop?

Coinbase has a 50 sell daily limit.

Bitstamp is a good place to cash out. Don't fall for Mt.Gox, it takes days even months to cash out from there.
Good Luck

You can sell at different exchanges.

Use multiple exchanges, you might want to do a bit of research on the exchanges since some of them wont allow your to withdraw USD easily. Requiring you to submit documents and wait days, even weeks at times. Having thousands stuck in an exchange for even a few days would suck.

Well there are a few ways you can sell your btc.

You can use big, trusted websites like bitstamp or btc-e.

You can sell it on many websites.

Or you can sell it to people.

You might also want to check your local laws/bank regulations. For example, I know banks over here are required to investigate, report and/or block sudden transactions of 20.000eur or so due to whitewashing. It guess it's probably best to spread it out a bit over different days, different exchanges and (if possible) different bank accounts. Just to avoid the hassle of explaining perfectly legal, yet large, transactions.

All that makes sense, but what if I need/want to "cut and run" -- i.e. unload all my bitcoins and cash out, in a hurry?

Coinbase's sell limit is 50/day.  I imagine most other exchanges will be similar.

So I guess what I'm looking for is a single exchange with the following attributes:

1. 500 or higher daily sell limit
2. Secure, reputable
3. Easy to link to US bank account

Any suggestions?
