Title: mining software on Nvdia GPU with cuda?
Post by: eddy16112 on November 30, 2013, 06:43:40 PM
There are lots of Nvidia's scientific computing GPU in my lab. More than 10 C2050(Fermi), 2 K20 and 2 K40. I plan to use them for mining when idle.

Is there any good cuda mining software in Linux?

You're probably better off just plugging in ASICS for the free electricity. However, I was buying ASICs at $9.50 each, right now equipment costs are crazy.

Pretty sure those Nvidia chips won't do much other than wear out at this point. Even if you don't own the lab, you don't wanna be the guy that broke it.

Thanks for your answer. That's a bad news:( These nvdia GPU are super expensive, K40 is around $4000, and they are expert in computing, so I suppose they would have incredible performance than regular gaming card.

Nvidia are historically bad for mining, but perhaps you have something different there. Launch BFGminer on one rig and see how it goes, if you see anything less than 333mh/s then you are probably best skipping the GPU altogether. The USB sticks that do 333mh/s were $10 a month ago, at that price they made sense, just not sure what to recommend in this pricing environment.

Nvidia cards are not that good for mining compared to Radeon.

Stop.  Just Stop.  There is no point mining on nVidia hardware unless you want to generate heat at the expense of life of the components.

CPU mining maybe, but nVidia  ::)
