Title: Cex.io GHS/BTC Rate Checker/Alerter
Post by: WayTooGosu on December 01, 2013, 04:13:11 AM
Hey guys, I've had about 2-3 year Java experience and I decided to write myself a Cex.io GHS/BTC rate checker.

To start the program, you tell it how high and how low should GHS/BTC rate reach before alerting you.

It simply grabs the current GHS/BTC rate and it compares it with what you told the program earlier. If it has reached a certain amount it will give you a pop up telling you the rate, and some other information.

I could probably make this work with all other things traded on Cex.io and even some other sites.

Let me know what you think people will be interested in or what you are interested in.

This will be a free program of course!

If you would like to support me you could donate to my BTC address  :).

If people are interested in this, I could create a full program with a nicer GUI instead of a console and many other things.

It will all be open source of course so no need to worry about viruses or anything fishy like that.

Even though it's for android, allow me to present Boilr, an alarm app for btc & alt traders. Boilr supports most exchanges and pairs! Check it out for yourself - http://boilr.mobi/

You can check the code yourself and download it at googleplay, fdroid, etc. Also, if you have any suggestions, feel free to create an issue @ github - https://github.com/andrefbsantos/boilr

we're constantly improving the app. feedback is more than welcome! Cheers

its a good idea but such thing like this needs no be open source like the one XorrTGJ said in the top comment. otherwise no one will trust the app. or at least something that the site itself offers not a third party.
also it would be better if you could work a little on the GUI

You could use the alarm function on Bitcoin Wisdom.
Just set your target level on https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/cexio/ghsbtc and you will be notified when the price is hit.

Good idea.

I traded GHS at CEX what a month ago. Then the bots went crazy it seemed.

283 down to 150 and then up to 240. With some wild gyrations in between.

The GHS price went up in late Sept because the maintenance fee has been cut significantly at that time.

Yeah, it was about that time I guess.

Real fun trading but I was lucky to get
out about even, to be honest.
