Title: Talked my local toy drive in to accepting BTC donations, HELP!
Post by: kamant on December 02, 2013, 10:10:05 PM
I'm a member of my local Elks and we have a toy drive every Christmas. I have talked with my president about accepting BTC donations and got it okayed. Now I'm stuck. I emptied my wallet in to the fund and now am at a loss as to where I should go next. Is there anywhere (here, reddit, ect) where it is proper to solicit such donations?

The thing is, how will you prove that this is a legitimate address for the legitimate charity. You can say it is going to charity, but without proof you won't have any donations.

What constitutes proof? I can get approval on letterhead, show membership credentials, etc.

Anything is better than nothing at this point. However, if you are representing a charity and asking for donations, you're going to have to come out of anonymity. Otherwise no one will trust it.

While I can't personally, another member of our lodge would be more than happy to. I'm not too concerned with such things, they are just matters of documentation that can be easily verified. I need to know where to go with this information.

I'm pretty sure I recall a subforum on reddit that is focused solely on asking for donations.
