Title: Cryptsy - a Ponzi Scheme?
Post by: WayTooGosu on December 02, 2013, 11:56:34 PM
Cryptsy has been receiving complaints by MANY people about slow deposits, slow withdrawals and even slow trades and glitchy orders. It makes you wonder what is happening to this money during all this delay. They could be using this as a Ponzi scheme, using our delayed withdrawals to fulfill older withdrawals and so on. What do you think?

I bet he does, reading 'using our delayed withdrawals to fulfill older withdrawals and '.

I don't agree with you. I think the (small) delays are reasonable. It is true that the altcoins attract much more people these days (and so do the changes). Also, MCXNow quit and many people moved to Cryptsy. I bet it will be fine in a few days ;)

It should not take 3 days+ for them to handle withdrawals unless there is a good reason for it. Most sites have automated withdrawals in less than 1 hour.

I doubt about this. Cryptsy does not promise to pay users more coins than they deposit, in fact because of fees users get back less coins than they deposit

I think there ís a good reason for it; their servers aren't sufficient for the popularity yet. They state that new servers are coming and also extra staff. I'm not sure when those new servers will arive, I thought they would today. But, today Cryptsy was already faster for me then it was yesterday.

The delays are getting much better. BTC withdrawal was done after 2 minutes today (1h yesterday).

They've been holding onto my money for 3 days now. This is unreasonable.

And you wrote Cryptsy support about your issue?

I've tweeted them, opened 4 tickets only for them all to be closed shortly for no reason and then them stating in an email to contact them if my issue is not resolved, which I did and they ignored me. I also made sure I confirmed all the confirmation emails.

if i had an mBTC for every time i heard someone misuse the label "ponzi scheme" or "pyramid scheme," i'd have a few bitcoins by now.

I've been using cryptsy since they opened back in May.  They have a respectable staff and if you have an issue they'll fix.  Right now they're under high load from all the new users.  Just a month ago they had like 1k or less active users at a time.  This week they've been getting 3000+ new users a DAY.  I know it sucks having your money stuck for a period of time, but they'll eventually fix your problem.
