Title: Someone made an unauthorized transcation from my wallet?
Post by: Veta on December 03, 2013, 01:16:14 AM
Hello guys.

I think I may have been hacked - someone has made a transcation of 1.2 something bitcoins from my wallet into theirs, essentially emptying my account.
I feel quite appalled by this. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing that someone could have possibly hacked into my account and empty it. I've always been careful, and I don't even watch porn on this computer.

The transcation Id is 29e03e964103accb94e969a736dcc7ef352412a4b2f6b90b843302a28196fbc0 , to account 19wv7pzMC1E9LTsVqPE7vESMWQbEQLPWxj
The total amount of bitcoins that has been transferred out is 1.2033826 BTC, even my pocket change what the hell.

Can anyone please help me out? I'll more than gladly reward the helper out with this, I just can't lose those money.

Nobody hacked your wallet. You did one of the following:

Got a virus
Use an online wallet
Shared a private key
Used a brain wallet

Guarantee you you fit somewhere in those 4 options.

I did indeed use an online waller - blockchain.
Can't be the last two, possibly the first or second.

What can I do?

EDIT: I will be giving out a bounty equal to about a hundred dollars in bitcoin to whoever helps me recover my lost funds.

ALWAYS use a paperwallet if you are not trading BTC, but use it to wait to cash it out when the time is ripe. For buying stuff once in a while Save youre Wallet.dat or PC wallet on a harddisk/ USB drivenot connected to a pc on the web

you can't recover it. the money has been sent to the thief's address and it can't be reversed.

Yup, unless your looking to try and shame your funds back from the thief (i.e via doxxing or some other method) then your funds are completely and entirely gone.

All that's left to do now is to find out HOW it was compromised...
As you used the blockchain online wallet, there should be records of login attempts and an IP address. If someone else tries to log in on my blockchain wallet, i get an email  which i have to confirm first... So maybe the attacker had access to your email address as well. Or perhaps he simply had physical access to your computer.

You can't get it back.

You need to accept this.

As for how it was stolen...

My best guess without having actually watched everything you did is that you didn't have 2 factor authorization turned on and you used a weak password.

Next time enable better security for your wallet. Make sure to disinfect your PC prior opening a new wallet.
