Why would anyone buy this at several hundred dollars over MSRP from a random guy over the internet using an irreversible method of payment rather than going to your local best buy to pick one up?

$400 + tax = ~$420 ....$100 profit for the escrow holder and seller isnt a bad deal, when taking into consideration that they are paying for shipping and everywhere is sold out of the consoles....now if they were asking more than $100 profit , most would wait to go to their BBY or Gamestop to get it them in stock.
I may just get this, I searched bitmit and cryptothrift for a few weeks now (bitmit is no longer taking sales so been very limited to how I can use my BTC for a PS4 or XBO).

I forgot to say that I take back off for California on the 6th of this month. I will be dropping the PS4 with the owner if I haven't sold it by the morning of 12-06-2013. (Be kind of a bitch to carry on.)

Because I am the escrow and the whole point of BTC is that vendors have the security of providing a A+ service. I know there are a bunch of "bad characters" in the BTC world, but trust me the last thing I want to do is wreck my name over some internet monies :) Sounds like a huge pain in the ass.

If this was my item I would be totally down for a third party, but seeing I am the third party I'm not going to go to a fourth. Especially with someone who could miss click and lose me a few BTC!

I'd escrow for you two for free if you wished. I've done deals with BayAreaCoins, so I'm confident enough that he is a straight shooter that it wouldn't be a very involved job. Even easier if you do 1 day shipping with tracking etc.

Although its not as necessary if you are doing the 24 hour shipping, insurance, and the works, I would still appreciate it if you two had basic contingencies covered, which you don't have to share will me unless they come up. Stuff like, what happens in the case of lost package, if the shipping company has a price guarentee on 1 day shipping and they fail to meet it, and you get the shipping costs refunded, who is entitled to what, what happens if the plane gets caught in the Bermuda triangle and the package is lost and insurance wont pay under some strange clause, etc.

Thanks, but obviously, John is more trustworthy than myself. He is however really busy at the moment, and not to be arrogant, but I'm perfectly capable to handle reasonable escrow deals. If you are handling hundreds of thousands of dollars, go with John though.

I'm going to go out on a limb, and guess that marco didn't get to the point where you two did agree on escrow, and he was responding to your earlier correspondance when you said no escrow.

*edit* Actually now that I think about it, I'm actually escrowing for another PS4 at this very moment as well.
