Title: Prices of mining hardware
Post by: Meltdow on December 03, 2013, 11:32:25 AM
Hi,

I am new to bitcoin mining and I am a bit confused about the hardware:

Blackarrow: 100 GH/s - 350$
Technobit:    40 GH/s - 750€
Blackarrow: 160 GH/s - 2,499$
Hashfast:    400 GH/s - 2.250$
BFL:           600 GH/s - 4.680$
KnCminer:   550 GH/s  - 4.995$
BFL:           500 GH/s - 22.484$ (FFS?)

Why are there so extraordinar huuuge differences in $/GH/s ? I mean, why should anyone buy an Erupter for 30$ (11 MH for 1$), when you get Blackarrow 100GH (285 MH for 1$)
And why are they _all_ sold out until 1Q? ??? Is it even worth to wait?

Thanks in advance :)

M

It depends on when were those miners produced , and when will be others delivered (if).
You're comparing different generations of mining rigs.

The 600 gh/s are expected to be shipped in 2 months, while the 500 is ready for delivery tomorrow, that's the difference in price.

That goes for all the differences.

I don't think black arrow has established themselves yet. As companies like knc have already shipped miners. The long wait is due to the hype of bitcoin mining, most of the time you have to pre-order the miners. If they are ready to buy and ship today, usually means they are not worth it.

Thats what i read a lot - but even 40 GH from Technobit is not available.

Whats a recommended piece of hardware to use? For testing or "the first steps" i bought some Block Erupters. (single. Knowing that I will never "dig" the price back)
But what should a newb as me invest? Really one of the pre-orders? Ist this the only way to make money out of mining?

Yeah I bought some erupters as well, definitely a good way to get your feet wet for cheap. The only asic company I have experience with is KnC, my 2 miners arrived only 2 weeks late back in Oct. It really all depends how much you have to invest. Seems that all the new preorders are costly, KnC has neptune for preorder, 3Th minimum but for $13k.

So conclusion: Buy any hardware, which is only available on pre-order and keep your fingers crossed that bitcoin "price" does not drop?

in your opinion?  8)
