Title: Any opensource cryptocurrency exchange site in active delopvement?
Post by: xzibits on December 03, 2013, 02:32:33 PM
Any opensource cryptocurrency exchange site in active development that uses most of these technologies?

PHP, JS, NodeJS, MySQL, Memcache, Redis, Python, MongoDB.

I checked out ButterCoin and the outdated OpenEx , I'm looking for something PHP atleast for the Website.

Any particular reason for putting PHP, JS, and Python in the same sentence, and also Memcache, Redis ... ? Or did you just write some of the words you heard somewhere else ? This is also entirely offtopic here.

I'm not sure it fits your requirements exactly but Justcoin is open source
https://github.com/justcoin/snow

Running live here
https://justcoin.com/en/

I have used it to buy btc with fiat and it works great. Clean and fast.

edit:
After a closer look it seems to use Ruby rather than PHP

I have used this technologies altogether in creating an seo platform , keyword research, competitor benchmarking , on page optimization and realtime ranking reports.

You want to work on an open-source project you mean ?
If yes,why want to select only php based projects ? In the upcoming years, php will be completely replaced by functional programming languages by JavaScript on the back-end.If you really wish to contribute to something for learning sakes, try scala based crypto projects. You will learn a lot about programming.

Don't hurry in answering questions from 2013. :-)

Seems you have an allergy to either openEx or Buttercoin. If the allergy gives you serious discomfort why don't you just avoid them so that your conditions do not detoriate further ? Speak of the service which Buttercoin provides, do they have any issue with clients or services? If not, what is the problem with the technology they use ?

What do you think is, of any concern which of the coding language one site is using as long as they can deliver their service ?

You checked out a site which is built on OpenEx but you want it to be in PHP.

Do you think the site owners build site thinking what a genius person like you will like or they think of serving the majority of the client's service.

The Question is from 2013. In 2013 nearly everising was rendered server-side and PHP state of the art. In 2017 almost everything is about reactivity and realtime. Rendering is often clientside and as a result much is in Javascript (MeteorJS, ReactJS, ...). Backend-development could be everything prefered. I like NodeJS because i need just one language and PHP for it's hardening abilities.

What do you mean by 'in active development' is something I would like to understand, which made me reply to your post.

Are you speaking of any script or Content Management System for currency exchange which is developed actively or something else which I cannot figure out ? If you have so much love for PHP, why don't you develop one such in PHP ?

Remind me of the olden day's proverb, a little learning is a dangerous thing.
Instead of telling us, I doubt you know even, the problems or inefficacies of openex, you believe that the site should have been built on PHP. Perhaps you have just heard of PHP or learning tits and bits of it and think that is the only language a coder should use.
