Title: How do people withdraw from bitcoins anymore in the USA?
Post by: Minsc on December 04, 2013, 04:08:12 PM
A year or two mtgox appearantly can't withdraw to US banks anymore and since then no withdrawls or even additions I think.

And now I go log on MtGox after not being on it for years and it says to deposit or withdraw, it demands a bunch of Weird-Stalker-Sh*t™.  I don't understand any of it, except they demand to stalk me.

Is there no easier way to do this anymore?

That stalker shit you 're referring to is them trying to comply with KYC/AML laws. Apart from localbitcoins i don't now of any other place where you can avoid providing some papers anymore

If you do find a place that does not require identity, be very cautious.

This website would have some worth if it weren't overrun with scam artists trying to charge 50% markups on coins they sell.

Unfortunately *everyone* i have sent there to buy coins has been met with absurd prices.

If I owned that site, I would require everyone to sell BTC for market prices, or close to it.

That is, if the site owner wants his site to actually stay alive.

kraken does need identity but seems much less strict about it.

What do you mean by much less strict? They don't need papers that prove your location for example?

He is asking where he can sell BTC, right?  So he can sell them for any price he wants, right?  If everyone else is charging "too much" then he can very easily sell his for a price under these people charging "too much", undercut them and quickly sell his coins.

BTW I and many others sell at Mt Gox last.  Sorry if that too much for you.

Get your math straight. At the current rate of $1200/BTC, how many transactions on there do you see that are $1800/BTC? Some are slightly marked up, some are BELOW mtgox price. Do you think exchanges are free too? There is a fee to wire money in, a fee to trade the coin, and a fee with withdraw. Not only are there fees, verification and deposit/withdraws takes weeks if not months. The localbitcoin website is free if you don't use escrow, and only 1% to one person with the escrow service.

Almost every transaction on localbitcoins.com is legit because there automatic escrow. Just don't use the risky forms of payment like paypal. You want to see scam artist? Look at BTC-e and coinbase.

Can't you get out through coinbase still?
