If you buy a raffle ticket for a car and win the car, you have the claim the car as income... wouldn't this be similar? So you have two options I suppose, either one record the capital gains and then purchase your car. Or say you spent X on something that earned you a car worth $XX,XXX and claim the $XX,XXX - $X as "other income." Do whichever has the lower tax rate?
