Title: MSI 290X 3 GPU Setup
Post by: mrpark on December 05, 2013, 10:08:40 PM
Hello:

A few newbie questions: Please have some mercy :)

I was thinking about getting three of these MSI 290x cards, has anyone undervolted this card successfully yet? I have an old intel dp35dp motherboard and I will try to use the unpowered X1 to X16 risers cables (and hope they will work without doing the x1 wire jumper trick) and a 1200W Lepa power supply (and maybe daisy change another 600w). I read they can get 1000k hash, so since I couldn't get the 7950's anymore I am glad about the higher hash rate. One other dumb question, is plugging in a monitor for setup take from the mining power? What to use to monitor mining? perhaps VNC? Any suggestions or comments appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Buying those cards for mining or even gaming is wrong.
The price/performance ratio is just not good enough compared to 280x and 290.

No this is a fantastic card for gaming, beats the titan at half the price.

For Mining, not so much....  The 280x is only about 15% under it for scrypt mining for instance
