Title: MSI Z77MA-G45 - Anyone using one?
Post by: darksoft on December 06, 2013, 04:05:58 AM
I got one of these by accident (I ordered the wrong model). Anyone know if you can use all 4 pci-e slots in this thing? At least 3 of the 4 would be acceptable at this point. Thanks!

you have it in hand... I don't see why not.  use powered risers and plug in 2, then +1, and +1...

Yeah I could experiment but I would rather know before opening it, that way if it won't work I can at least exchange it for the regular version.

FWIW, most of the "known compatible" mobo's are all out of stock, just like the video cards.  So you might as well try it.  Other boards in the same MSI series work, so I don't see why this one won't.

Also, almost all decent boards should support up to 3 video cards, since they should all support nVidia's 3-way SLI.

But, I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I don't know for sure...

The regular one is in stock, so that's not an issue for me. It does support 2-way SLI according to the box, but still looking for someone who has used one of these...

if it's in stock, you might as well get that one... at least then you'll have the option to add up to 6 GPUs

MSI Z77MA-G45 is good, but I prefer GD55 cause of the shutdown button on the motherboard :)

I just alt-F4 or turn off the PSU to shut down after cancelling all mining first of course

Plus it's super cool to turn on a computer without a power button, much more professional feeling

Agree, but its not easy to on the computer with GPUs around it...

I was asking about a specific motherboard and how many of the pci-e slots were usuable, not any other model. I have other models, I know about them, I don't care about them now. I wanted a simple answer on the z77ma-g45, not a synopsis on how great the other models were....
