Title: when will btc stabilize?
Post by: thegolden24 on December 07, 2013, 04:47:42 AM
Im hoping it gets down to around $650. I plan to invest soon cause I think this is going to be a big month for bitcoin.  ;D

Bitcoin will not stabilize for a long time. If it ever dips to $650 is another question. I would say it is possible, but unlikely at this time.

Do you think the upcoming conferences in Las Vegas and in India will give some resistance to the descent?

do you consider gold stable? bitcoin may turn out to act similarly (i mean after the years of initial volatility)

There's no need to panic sell... if anything this is a buying opportunity. The long term utility of Bitcoin seems to be very good, people really like it and want to use it. People love to mine bitcoins too. The price of bitcoin has plummeted before, and it came back. I wouldn't put the mortgage on it, but maybe a few hundred dollars and hold for a long time?

I find the current price very good, and I want to buy as many as possible.
The only problem is that the bank wire does not work on weekend.
Hope I can still get some cheap coins on Monday :P

I'd like to see how low it goes. The one thing I worry about is whether or not it will ever bounce back if it goes back down to the low hundreds.

Once those greedy speculators got hurt so badly that they never come back again. Today is a good start.

It has reached the bottom for now. Hopefully it will correct itself to new heights.

Doubt it [that it will reach $500]. After the recent crash it will only go in the opposite direction.

It is like asking when EUR/USD stabilize. For USD/Bitcoin there are just bigger swings because much less trade volume

Do you think the descent is over now? or is this the eye of the storm?

Just dont look at the price next few days and you will see relatively stable price next week  :)

I think it will become more stable when there are not large new sets of people finding out about it.

Rule #434 of the game.
Never say never. Also rule #1 , # 45 and #267.

It will not stabilize this year. It will require more than 5 corrections atleast. Dont look for bitcoin going below 500$.

It probley will never be stabilized. Although I do hope it will jump back to 1000 and stay that way.

Too little trade volume for stable price, also the coins need to be redistributed more for stable price

USB and EUR are inflationary currencies
BTC is deflationary

It may take a long time, but BTC/USB eventually will raise to whatever you want.

It will not.

Some will profit sometime and lose the othertime.
Similarly,
Some will lose sometime, win the othertime.

Bitcoin is itself is a gambler.

There is no way to predict the exact time for btc to stabilize.

However, I hope it will not go down below 500$.

Buy between 500 to $700 and profit it when it goes up.

I think it will go down to 250 in honor of Christmas Day.  Then we buy at sell at $1,000,000,000 in 4 years

I don't think we will see under 700 for quite some time. More people are finding about about bitcoin. I actually suspect it will hit new records in spring. Though I do wish the price does dip so I can stock up some more!!

I think we are going to stabilize at $200-400 levels around the month of January.

Bitcoin is never going to stabilaze, well at least until he gets some balance for spending and earning bitcoins  ;D

There is still a few big decisions to be made. It is lurking upward cause way more people are in it now than 3 months ago and people are learning more and more each day.

A few more bombs like the Chinese dropped the other day might happen. Like EU and/or US doing the same official statement. But they cant ban it and media can badmouth it only for  short while until people loose interest.

The main thing is general feeling of usability. Like the article about the doctor who lets his patients pay using bCoin to remain anonymous. Adult industry would  be another great move.
Ignoring the  occasional bad mouth campaign by mass-media brainwashing campaigns I think things are progressing rather nicely.

Once Google opens its exchange the price will skyrocket and remain there cause it will be mega usable and available, LOL!
I just hope the Google guys are sitting on a few tens of thousands to motivate them. (or maybe that would be insider trading... Oh wait its still not regulated! hint hint)  ;D ;D

That's a good strategy. Bitcoin price should go much higher.

The demand is there. The news out of China made the price drop significantly, but still much higher than it has been the majority of this year. And now on Monday, it has recovered quite a bit.

It won't stabilize until the demand stabilizes, and even then, somebody who has a massive amount of BTC could dump it and cause a massive influx of supply that would cause the price to fall. The price of BTC won't fully stabilize until it is accepted as a mainstream currency and it is more evenly distributed.

who knows?

Hard to predict. The price of bitcoin is what in finance called "wisdom of the crowd", bitcoin does not have a negative correlate asset, futures contracts, hedging, etc and all others financials instruments made to stabilize the prices against variation.  I think maybe is correlate to the difficulty to mine 1 bitcoin and how much fiat you going to spend on it. Hope it going to change and we will see all those cool stuff like high frequency trading, etc...

I really like this video from bitcoin 2013 conference.

Personally I don't think they will ever stabilize like physical currencies until (if) they become as widely used.

I can't call when it will stabilize but I think this is a good time to buy a small amount and accumulate some more over time.  Based on the uncertainty of where the price is going.

The point is physical currencies are not stable against another one, this is why Bitcoin cannot be stable as well

The point is, that physical currency fluctuations are in tenth of a per cent range daily, and not like Bitcoin everyday fluctuations from 10-25%. So if you compare, then i would say that physical currency are almost stable against another one.

On Forex, with a trading volume of 200-300k USD in your hand you can make a bunch of 1k bucks per day, with luck. If you take the same amount $$ and trade on BTC, you can make easily 20000-30000USD per day (or lose of course). And the demand is not even tenth of a per cent daily.

In BTC you would affect the market price if you trade with 200-300k bucks daily...
