Title: How far can I push a 7950? Post by: Aphos on December 07, 2013, 08:40:40 PM Currently have it over clocked at 1030 megahertz, with the intensity set to 20 in my miner. I believe it can go to 1100, but without upping the voltage, it crashes at 1050<. So how much of a voltage increase would I need to bring it to its peak? On a side note, I'm not worried about the heat. Right now it only ever reaches 70c, and averages 68c.

You're in the wrong forum, try asking in ALT COINS, not BITCOINS subforum. But here's your answer anyways. Most people UNDERVOLT and UNDERCLOCK for scrypt, since GPU speed is not important, it's the GPU clock : Mem clock : TC ratios. I underclock and undervolt my 7870 to 845, and overclock my mem to 1375, I-19, and getting about 360kh/s Helps running temps a LOT, fans are relatively quiet. Title: Re: How far can I push a 7950? Unless you are mining as a hobby, mining with GPU is better suited toward Scrypt, i.e. Litecoin or other Scrypt cryptocurrency, rather than on SHA-256. Title: Re: How far can I push a 7950? Scrypt mining is completely different from SHA-256 mining. Overclocking is not necessarily with Scrypt mining. With your 7950 instead of hashing 550 MH/s it will hash at 550 KH/s 1/1000 the speed of bitcoin but that is how scrypt mining works i.e. 1 GH/s in bitcoin is like saying 1 MH/s in scrypt mining. I suggest you should do some research on scrypt mining as it is a better choice for profit, unless you are mining as a hobby, you will NEVER profit from bitcoin by GPU mining. |
