Title: Best floor fan or shop fan for cooling a rig? Post by: gmoney1 on December 07, 2013, 09:35:53 PM Hello, I have some hardware coming and I am told it runs hot and requires extra cooling...
I won't be able to install extra (or better) fans on the thing until I know what I'm looking at and there might not even be a good place to mount them... And I want to be able to start mining as soon as the unit arrives, until I figure out what to do... so am looking on Amazon for a good floor fan / shop fan that: 1. Provides adequate cooling without overheating itself 2. Can be left on continuously 3. Isn't "too" loud (the room can contain the sound equivalent to several hairdryers and/or old vacuum cleaners but probably not a leafblower) 4. In the $100 range I guess issue #3 can be avoided if I get one with an adjustable setting. Do you use a floor fan for extra cooling and what can you recommend? When the unit comes I will get that cheapo Home Depot fan and run with the case off, then investigate if there is room inside the case to mount a 120mm or two. Thanks again! Post by: hieroglyph on December 11, 2013, 06:40:01 PM I'd suggest those "tornado" fans that can balance a balloon in the air. Not because I have experience with it I just assume that would be a good option to cool a specific area/machine. All the best.
