What do you think is/are the reasons why the two of the world's most richest men doesn't support and is against Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency?

when rich guys tell you to short something.. those rich guys already have shorted it. and are now wanting others to react so that they can do the opposite

EG when a rich guy says sell.. he already sold and wants othrs to now sell so he can buy at a discount
then after the rich guy buys at a discount. they will then and only then tell others to start buying. for the price rise. so the richguys can then sell

$1 to $10,000 in 9 years in super-HYIP. Those super-rich people have earned money from factories, gold, silver, businesses and services, stock markets that has seen many wars, economic crashes, 9/11 terrorist attacks, economic booms, technology revolutions and more.. over the past 100 years.

So what? Their opinion means nothing to me. They are like some so calles authorities but their real influence is exaggerated and people don't think with their own heads but buy everything they hear or read. Just because they have money that doesn't mean they are experts for everything, including cryptocurrencies. Follow your own philosophy, not theirs.

I strongly doubt that these people openly declare their real thoughts about the crypto currency, but even if it is really so, then it reminds me of those guys who at the beginning of the twentieth century said that the future for horses and cars there is not the place.

This is not the first time the old man is talking about a technology he could not understand under the natural circumstance of his age and still he wants to make opinions when he was an individual who promoted scam as he directly controlled all the rating agencies and that in turn started the meltdown having a closed eye on certain shady things and he was an insider trading and so i do not mind what he says

Ignorance and there is no way around that. If they tried studying and learning about crypto, they would not make such statements. It all boils down to not having the knowledge.

Yup, that's what I would do if I'm a big fish in the business industry. Criticize bitcoin to get the market as low as possible and anonymously joining it since it is secured. They will probably join the market in a few days once the market hits their preferred price. Don't believe their bullshits trust your instincts.

And whats really annoying is that the markets usually react to what these

Most probably this is the main reason why such richie richs have to comment upon or criticize something badly. They have their own perspectives and just because they are rich, people will have to ponder upon whatever they say!


That is true, but not all people are same. These richards have set a brand image for themselves in front of everyone. And whatever they say becomes a statement for others to believe. I agree just because they have money, does not mean they are experts but their brand image has set an idealistic approach for everyone to have belief in whatever illogical they say. Moreover the FUD that media creates on such statement releases affects the thinking power of the people.

There is nothing to think about them. they have been comfort in their 'comfort zone' being super rich on their royalties. I don't know if they really against bitcoin and crypto-currencies, but bitcoin has grew without their support. or might be they are afraid of blockchain as the leading technology which perhaps outdoes their giant corporations.

This is exactly what happens on Share market or any trading market. Rich people are whales and they can manipulate the market as they see fit.


Gates and Buffet previously said they own bitcoin on their portfolios, so now they are criticizing it ? without doubt that is a manipulation plan, make a panic and get the price down so at the end of the year they can gain millions in return. many blockchain specialists already predicted the range of 20K - 50K USD for bitcoin by the end of the year, no wonder worlds biggest billionaires trying to buy more.

I think you need to include an article link about the news we will discuss in this thread, if I personally their words will not affect the bitcoin price, anything that rich people say it's just to make a profit for them no more and think it's just a joke

I don't care what they said about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, they already RICH and can make millions of dollar per day from their business and they think is enough. So, they don't need to invest their money in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to make more income for their life...

There are so many philosophy that might be responsible for the reason. Look both of them have enough physical money. And there is a matter of HACKING that will definitely make them worried regarding this. So, being traditional in mind, they will oppose cryptos, i think.

For most of us, cryptocurrency is a means to an end, not actually a belief. Most people are actually investing in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies so that they can sell out and enjoy live whilst benefiting from all the fiat currency they've made. Bill Gates and Buffet don't need to live in this pipe dream, they have already attained fabulous worth so they are able to see the truth. I don't believe it will fail like they said, but most people aren't true believers.

As i am newbee i dont know the real scenario . But does anybody know bill gates and warren buffet dont have Bitcoin secretly . Its possible . After creating these news and hypes they buy in lower price. Lol its funny.

Both Warren and Bill Gate are quite influential  globally with lots of followers w there criticism will definitely have an impact on Bitcoin, sure Bitcoin has come to stay globally.

Buffet used to be a critic since he heard about the independent money. His 80 year old brain can't comprehend that money can have no organization standing behind it.
Gates on the other hand sounds like he's scared of the scammers, hackers and money launderers. He used to support technology and progress but now he's just an old man scared for his fortune.

Warren Buffet is an old school investor and made his fortune over a long period of time. Now with cryptocurrencies some people have made their fortune in a very short period of time. That's something Warren Buffet cannot understand and that's why he's criticizing bitcoin. Bill Gates on the other hand, should understand this modern technology, that's why he was first pro bitcoin. Maybe he can't stand it that some make millions with bitcoin so easily.

What I would love is for a reporter to quiz Buffet to determine what his actual knowledge of crytocurrency is. They just assume he understands the technology and its use cases. I don't think he does.

I'm sure he understands it. He just doesn't like it because it threatens every business he has his hands in and undermines a long-held and much-lauded belief system. He didn't care for Google and Amazon, either.

I think this is about their analysis of the crypto world, they see that the crypto world will not last for a long time, so the crypto world is not a good choice to invest. then, especially the warren buffet like the one who hates bitcoin. he said that the crypto world is the bubble.

market caps are a meaningless number. no one should care abour market caps. no one should mention them no one should use them aas a stat.

It's a free world and everyone has rights to talk. Especially on something decentralized bitcoin. Because they don't have to face defamatory lawsuit due of that. So here they are talking non sense about crypto currency. But this is not the first time especially for Mr. Buffet. He has been attacking bitcoin since long time now and stopped making sense to the worldwide crypto community.

Mr. Buffet is speaking against bitcoin for the same reason Mr. Dimon did. They are from organized financial business which is being directly affected by bitcoin and other crypto currencies. But I see no sense when Mr. Gates speaks against it. Their field of business doesn't even correlate. Probably he is heavily influenced by Mr. Buffet or taken a huge short position on bitcoin's price!

There is a simple reply to them and that is they do not know about bitcoin and they do not know about the digital world and its future that is all. They are only rich people and are not the expert of finance especially in the digital world. Or they do not want others to become rich like them. There is also a point that this field is becoming more successful and bill gates have fear that it will be bigger than microsoft.

It's because they want to manipulate the market of cryptocurrency, they will say bad things about it to create fear to small investors and of course people will react and panic because those people who said those things have influence. I'm sure they don't want the price of Bitcoin to surpass the $10000 mark yet so that they can buy at the bottom. They will not agree to be interviewed and ask about Bitcoin/cryptocurrency just because they want to say their opinions, I'm sure there's a hidden agenda and that is to manipulate the price. I remember when Bill Gates said that Bitcoin is better than currency few years ago while the price is not that high, now that Bitcoin price went up he's now on the other side, lol.

I can't anything about them criticizing about bitcoin. They are free to do so but I doubt it that they never invested to bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Bill Gates once said that he do believe bitcoin and even said to "buy bitcoin" I forgot the youtube channel I watched it. And about Warren Buffett, it's still a mystery if he's an investor or only giving constructive criticism. IMO, these people just want to give a full blow to the market so that they can short and pump through their publicity and words.

I guess that the richest people in the world can be in denial of the fact that there are OTHER ways they could never imagine of thinking money. I'll remind everybody of the fact that when Internet has appeared Bill Gates was a major critic of it, and he declared that it had no future.

Are you guys really worried about that? They have their own opinions and it's not like they are criticizing BTC, they are simply saying that they don't like it. There's a difference between pointing out flaws and simply saying that it's bad and you wouldn't touch it if you were paid to. That's a very retarded response.

Berkshire Hathaway is smart in the fact they only take trades they fully understand. They historically stay away from tech companies. A good example is how they passed on Amazon in the early days. They also are such a massive investor they can't invest in small market caps without affecting the price in the short term. Everyone's strategy is different and bitcoin is not at a place where Berkshire wants to invest so they say it's rat poison.

That doesn't mean it's a bad investment for us. Why would the taxi company invest in Uber or say good things about it? It challenges the current system and only takes money away from their precious stock market.

Keep calm and buy bitcoin.

I think it's normal for a guy like Warren Buffet to not like bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. He's a clever man but it doesn't mean he can understand technology and future of bitcoin.

Bill Gates I cant really say a bad word about him I actually think he has good opinions on emerging tech, he missed apple and seems to be missing the value of crypto but you cant always be right. With Warren buffet I think he is just old fashioned and has failed to spot any of the new emerging companies. But he's 90 so I don't really blame him

I guess the most probable reason why world’s two most richest and I think the wisest man are not in favour of bitcoin is may be because of decentralising nature of bitcoin and because of which bitcoin is now being use for illegal activities like selling drugs, explosives, money laundering etc and the advantage of bitcoin that provides confidentiality in the transactions to its users are encouraging such illegal use of bitcoin because bitcoin transactions does not involve any third party seizure and I guess this could be reason why these two are in against of bitcoin.

I think maybe it's because they're too old.
They cannot keep up with the development of The Times, they cannot face new things with a new vision.

It seems like the general sentiment around here is that they're too old and out of the loop to appreciate Bitcoin. That's certainly possible, but I think the far more likely scenario is that they don't care for it. Neither really cares enough about the subject to actually study it in-depth; it just sounds like they're only running off of preconceived notions.

It must also be noted that the most recent criticisms refer to Bitcoin's speculative nature. They're not really talking about its technological aspects, but rather all of the speculative investing that's going on around it. It's entirely a matter of opinion, so it's not even worth contesting. If Bill Gates wants to go short, you can prove him wrong by going long. That's just about as simple as it gets.

I have just found out about this and to tell the truth I have no ideas and can't guess what the reason is because as for me it is a real puzzle. Such famous people who are rich are usually interested in innovative technologies able to make them even richer

I am a fan of Warren Buffett and he has a very logical investment philosophy and I understand his statements on CNBC News. Warren Buffett always relies on something that is really valuable and understands how a company works to invest. But for Bitcoin, it uses the money of an investor for some unclear purpose. That is for Warren very hated. I think that his opinion is correct to say that the Crypto market is not considered as investment. We can only do speculation in the Crypto market to make a profit.

These are bigwigs in there area of specialization and field and owns many companies and I believed these statements credited to them as regards criticizing Cryptos is their own personal opinion however from my own point of view they are beginning to see massive adoption of digital currencies as way of redistribution of wealth as a threat and many countries are shifting their economy towards Cryptos e.g Venezuela, Iran e.t.c

IMHO The words of the super rich people is not always right coz' of course they are still humans. Thats their opinions, and no one can change their opinions because they believe in their selves and their decisions. They reached that level because of their decision making in life. So its just their opinions but can affect to the crypto space because many ears listen to them.

...and it didn’t affect the value of bitcoin. That’s the great thing about cryptocurrency, no single person can influence it. Not even the collective criticisms from the wealthiest people on earth can affect bitcoin. Or even the most powerful world leaders.

I'm also not worried, actually it was funny to see them really very critical about bitcoin,  but hey its a free world and every has its own opinion. Maybe they are right because they understand that its a speculative asset that can simply go down anytime, however, we have our own opinion as well. Bill Gates is retired and spends most of his time giving away his fortune. Warren Buffet is old and will also give most of his money to charity. I highly respect both these guys but I think this time they’re not on point. I’ll just ignore them. Their statements did not affect bitcoin anyway.

Who knows what their reasons are, they may be doing it as a favor to a fellow investor who is shorting bitcoin. Maybe they think they can get away with it and then get more respect as being the people who called the end of crypto. There's no reason, in my mind, for them to make a call like this unless they have skin in the game themselves. I think that bitcoin is now far ahead of seeking the support of such big personal to survive. The word bitcoin has spread all over the world and remains unstoppable.

Maybe they dont want other people to be as rich as them, or maybe richer than them. Bitcoin is very promising. It has been the best investment for some who bought it in the early days. For holders or long time holders, it has made an ordinary man a millionaire. You know people don't want to be surpassed by an ordinary guy. They are merely speaking because they want to put bitcoin down. But nomatter who they are or what they say, it won't matter anyways. Only weak hands falls for their foolish acts.

Bitcoin is owned by an individual rather than an institution. so there's no problem when a Warren Buffet talks anything.

Well Warren Buffet is invested heavily in bank stocks and banks is something that Bitcoin threatens directly. So its quite easy to figure out why Warren Buffet hates bitcoin. And Bill Gates is just someone who missed out getting in early into Bitcoin and is now trying to vent his anger due to it. The crypto community should ignore them both.

What do we expect from a gurus in business they will always business is not good if they see you want to do what they are doing those people are the people that bring down Bitcoin price in other for they to buy at a very cheap rates, people who follow them and believe in them always fall and got discourage when they here them saying something like this.
Their speech will affect many people as the people will start selling their BITCOIN while Bill Gates and Warren Buffet will start buying all of your bitcoin the next year you will here world news announcing them as the world richest just as simple as that.

Warren Buffet is no doubt one of the very critics of bitcoin "rat poison, an asset that creates nothing etc" some of his lines and criticism towards bitcoin but bill gates? I know that he supports bitcoin he has some good insights and speculations about it but people change and the OP needs to provide the official source or the link of their statements so that we can analyze their opinions.

I also just found out about this and this actually I have no idea but can not guess what the reason is because for me it is just a real puzzle. Rich people are popular, usually attracted to innovative technology that can make them richer. 8)

How come whales ever turned their backs into the things that they love and believe can help the people? I am very respectful of him, but perhaps as a researcher and a work for collecting electronic money, I do not care much about their opinions. It seems that Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are trying to make their own criticisms of the Cryptocurrency market. They have no sympathy for electronic money, even though they are giants in the investment community. The problem is that we have faith in the work we do. For the top billionaires like them, several million dollars is nothing. But to us it is a dream. Yes, it is really a motivation for us to try.

That is their views and they have the right to express it. The fact is that such should not bother anyone. Those men are already made and can choose to run down cryptocurrency at will. After all, what made them billionaire is the current system of money so why should they oppose fiat money?

I think that celebrities like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett may not really know the block chain technology, as if you asked for the opinion of a military expert in a sports competition, and if we believe we should encrypt the industry, we should stick to our own judgment.

Warren Buffet has already said he doesn't invest in things he doesn't understand.  He passed up on the tech companies in the 90s and early 2000s.  Buffet simply doesn't understand bitcoin and does not see the true value in cryptocurrency.

It's also possible that he has a malicious intent to discredit bitcoin and try to spread FUD because he is too invested in the modern banking system.
