Yes, I'm from Europe. Is bitstamp the best exchange for EU?

You can also try bitcoin-central and compare the prices / fees.
Bitstamp converts your EUR to USD when you make a deposit.

You have to confirm your account in both websites (proof of residence, ID)

You will not get verified on Sunday.
I would say 2 business days.

I'm aware of that, I haven't sent a verification request cause I will need to scan the documents and I can't get it done today anyway. Btw check your inbox.

I would also suggest you see localbitcoins.  I've done many trades there.

There are a bunch of bitcoin exchanges you can get btc at including Mt. Gox, BTCE, bistamp, etc. Just look up bitcoin exchanges or bitcoin markets on duckduckgo or google.

trading bitcoins, gold, silver, stocks.

Always allocate a set amount and look for major HSR buy points, and then set orders to buy.

300 EUR, every 100 eur down, buy in increased % increments.

E1020 now at gox

at E900 2%
at E800 4%
at E700 8%

like a pyramid, then do the same on the sell side.  always do something like this if trading

Get an account on mtGox or other exchange, fund your account and buy some bitcoins.

Don't invest more than you can afford to lose :)

Bitstamp price should be better than coinbase, especially when the price is more stable (not now, last days price rising a lot)

While BTC-e is often called shady, it does not require any identification and has lower prices than any other exchange.

What about gambling? Is such thing legit or a scam? Which sites can be trusted and how does that work?

This is true, but it is hard to deposit money there. But for coin trading only is very good exchange

The bitcoin phenomenon, and the technological innovation that made it possible, is interesting—but for investors large and small, the more pertinent question is whether they should buy the virtual currency or avoid it.

Don't put all of your investments in bitcoin. But there are many exchanges available for usd/btc exchange. alternately, you could use paypal etc. to buy some alt coins and trade the alt coins for btc.

Any idea why did bitcoin drop to $690.00 now?

Chinese exchanges cannot use 3rd party payments processors anymore, so only bank wires to Chinese exchanges possible (for better monitoring)

Obviously it helps spread the FUD "China banned Bitcoin"  :)

The best way to get into Bitcoins right now is simply to buy them on an exchange such as BTC-E, Bitstamp, etc. Buying mining equipment right now is not a good option for someone who is new to this. You can easily end up losing a big chunk of money. At any rate, BTC has touched $1200, its current level is not the top by a long shot. I'd say start watching one or two exchanges to get a feel for the price fluctuations, put some cash on the exchange with which you are most familiar, then buy bitcoins on the dips. When everyone else is jumping out of windows and it's  lost 50% of its value, that's when to buy. Not when it's been skyrocketing in value for days in a row.

Good luck!
