Would be sweet if they did. I have an idea I'd like to potentially get funded with Bitcoin. Are there any other crowd-sourcing sites that already accept BTC?

Certainly would be great, It would be a good market fit too with so many early adopters using both bitcoin and funding kickstarter projects.

Nope, they only take fiat currency.

I would be very surprised would they not.

When this would happen I do not know, but do expect Amazon and Ebay to already be looking at the options. When either of these sites officially declares their backing, the coins value will explode.

If you were to get that email address and copy and paste it here for us to email them with then we could probably make it happen faster.

I recall one bitcoin kickstarter, but it hasn't received very many offers, yet.

Perhaps if someone proposed a Bitcoin kickstarter project to build a new online exchange that took on the new altcoins, or some such thing.  Perhaps the altcoiners might throw a few BTC in for that.

I doubt Kickstarter would accept Bitcoin. What if a project fail or turned out to be a scam? How do people get their bitcoins back?

Bitcoinstarter.com is trying to be a similar platform for bitcoin community.

I think 2014 is going to be a good year in Bitcoin adaptation. A lot of big names have potential to add it into their systems. I think once enough people are using btc and businesses get bugged about accepting it frequently they will feel confident in its legitmacy. 

Agreed I have heard good things about altcoins I heard that new ones will be coming up that change the entire bitcoin game while adding new support to bitcoin instead of hidding away inside of bitcoin

I think Kickstarter would add BTC as a payment option.

Little things like these will greatly increase BTC popularity!! :D

We really need to at least send like 5 emails though they are more likely to do it if we all ask instead of just one person...

Why don't we turn this thread into the first bitcoin email force We can make threads about getting different websites to accept bitcoin and we can PM each other the links of the threads so that we can come support each other

Not at all bitcoiners are very stingy and miserly as far as I can tell from reading around the threads

Yeah, I think Wikipedia has an auto-response to any queries about whether they will accept Bitcoin donations or not.

Good move OP. It would be huge if they could accept/pay in Bitcoins.

Good that you emailed them, but a robotic answer. I imagine it would take many individuals emailing them about Bitcoin to actually consider it.

I prefer Indiegogo over Kickstarter, but there is always Bitcoinstarter, too.

Any options that are in parallel with the open nature of crowd funding with BTC is indeed a welcomed event.

Anybody know of a more active thread on the bitcointalk forums that takes the case of kickstarter.com accepting Bitcoin seriously? Thanks in advance  8)

Not if they use a payment processor like Coinbase/BitPay. If they are going to send money back(in case of project failure) they might follow the example of Wikipedia which sends back everything -(minus) miner transaction fees (https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Ways_to_Give).

Also in any case, I don't think it is a "boilerplate response" unless somebody else can show us that they received the exact same message. If that were true I would be very surprised. Anyway, it may be good to send an email to kickstarter.com when there is a project you would like to donate your money to but can't because of kickstarter's lack of a payment option for Bitcoin.

Anybody got a project they would like to donate to on kickstarter? Maybe the projects which you may be interested in, could learn about Bitcoin from you and then maybe they could accept Bitcoin. If enough support were shown(+if they are passionate about it which I think is a must) maybe they would ask kickstarter.com to allow their fans to give using Bitcoin. Aren't there lots of possibilities?

Well, it has been quite some time, and they don't seem to have made any mention of it.  Perhaps we could email them again and see if their minds have changed.  Doing a short search, it seems bitcoin is a touchy subject with Kickstarter:
