Title: For those that received the mini rig 500Gh/s from butterfly labs
Post by: mackminer on December 08, 2013, 10:19:59 PM
I know from reading that some of the first ones were without the nexus screen and had glue and velcro stuck to various parts.

Did butterfly labs sort these issues out? If you were to order one now would you get a quality product. Thanks.

I suppose ultimately all that matters is those submitted shares but I've read about hardware error issues too with cgminer.

It's just a bunch of singles put together. In fact, there is a glued-together USB hub on the inside. My friend pre-ordered when it was 1.5TH, so he actually has 3 of them. He ripped the top off so that there was better airflow.  Here's a good pic of what I'm talking about: http://buttcoin.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/bfl-inside3.jpg

Besides horrible airflow, it works just fine.  (He has it in a temperature-controller datacenter, so if it runs bad in there, it's just poorly designed.)

Haha, that picture is hilarious and totally sums up BFL for me

"We deliver your products overpriced, and late, and at lower than promised speed/efficiency, but at least there is the legendary BFL build quality"

hahahahaha  ;D
