Depends on your needs. If you are just starting out you will likely start with blockchain.info mywallet. If you are smart you will move from that to a desktop client. Then you might switch clients depending on your needs.

A better question would be what are you looking for in a wallet?

Substantiated: there is no "best" wallet.

There almost never is a best of anything that comes in different flavors.
It always depends on your needs. You can then choose whatever suits your needs best.

If you want a deterministic wallet that only needs to be backed up once: Armory or Electrum. For features, ease of use and convenient cold storage I think Armory wins over Electrum. Try both out, choose for yourself.

I have chosen Armory.
But is it also good for an "everyday transactions wallet" or is for this purpose electrum better?
Armory will administer many Clients
If you make "everyday transactions" with e.g. Electrum ,Armory will show the Balance of all Clients, right?
In total or the different Clients separately ?
Can I run electrum by USB-Stick?

If you have more than one wallet in Armory the balance of each is shown separately. Electrum has a portable version that runs from a USB drive. Install both and try out.

As an electrum user I can say I like multibit too. Electrum can be a little too simple sometimes. Multibit has support for multiple wallets in one window, charts and live ticker that I really like. When multibit hd is released it'll have deterministic wallets too.

I think it's good that we have all these different wallets. Other open source forums are usually about one project. But this forum is home to multiple different bitcoin clients and the competition and cooperation between them is good to see.

I really like Electrum for its simplicity, but multiple wallets in one window would be nice to have too.

That may sound like an advert, but I would advice to check out fruitwallet for Ios as a hot wallet.

I like Electrum very much. No need to download blockchain and interface is nice.

depends on the criteria you can call it the best. I mean it depends on what you are thinking is important for you, friend of mine use armory, and is ok with it, and as for me, I use electrum cause I don't like interface and it seems to me that electrum is easy to use.

True. Some prefers to have more features, some prefers not to have full blockchain, while some prefers maximum safety.
It is hard to say which wallet is the best, unless OP tells us what he wants and doesn't want.

I started on Multibit but have moved to Electrum. Really like it so far. I'm still looking for a good Android wallet.

Have started with multibit too as I have read it works with lots of coins. (I didn't know that other wallet are also work with altcoins)
Now I have Armory and, IMO, pretty good wallet.
