Title: Losing blockchain every time my laptop runs out of batteries
Post by: chorchonga on December 10, 2013, 10:50:53 PM
There has got to be a better way - every time my laptop runs out of batteries, I have to re-download the entire block chain which takes over a week.  Using OSX and Bitcoin QT 0.8.5.  Is there a different client that protects against this?

Have you tried closing the client cleanly before the power runs out? so it has a chance to save current progress.  Although it should be saving as it goes.

You could backup the blockchain files on external device and copy it back when it happens. Should save you some time.

Electrum client, no block chain to download
Or set action to hibernate before your battery runs out
